I always eat at SLA in Amsterdam, but I decided to go while in Utrecht, too…read more The friendly staff definitely make this location the best! I ordered the Mackerel salad with several substitutions for grains and I never felt rushed or like I was being difficult. The location is comfortable and cozy inside. I've had MANY of the signature and seasonal SLA salads over my trips to the Netherlands and the mackerel is the BEST I've ever had. The portion of protein was generous and the wasabi watercress lemon dressing was incredible. I always miss SLA when I am back in America, but now it'll be much harder after having had this delicious salad!

Thought I had reviewed SLA Voorstraat already, but here goes…read more.. The food at SLA is great and the hummus baby and mummy approved. Drinks are a bit limited, but not as limited as the space. In an already small space I don't think I'd ever build a huge bar that takes up at leastt half of wat very little space you have. Such a shame because it is great food. Luckily they've now opened SLA Nachtegaalstraat which is a much nicer, friendlier space. I don't usually feel comfortable coming to SLA Voorstraat because the servers seem a bit standoff-ish and whenever I have the pram with me it's pretty impossible to maneuver; getting to the toilet in the back is hell... Overall the vibe here isn't very welcoming, in fact it's quite cold so I definitely recommend walking a bit further towards the much more friendly and open SLA Nachtegaalstraat. Nachtegaalstraat is a great home base for anyone.

Cute and quiet spot for a hearty and healthy lunch!…read more I chose the yummy warming bowl - quinoa, sweet potato, spinach, lentils, cilantro, chickpeas and other yummy goodness! It was a great portion size and very filling and tasty. I believe they cook the food right there in a lovely little kitchen that is in the dining room just downstairs from where you order. The staff was very nice and they even have free Wifi! Yay Would definitely recommend this place for a Delicious and healthy lunch option.

My friend and I actually shared a salad they were such a big serve which is good for €9. I will def be back. Big selection, there is sure to be something for you!

Definitely one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam Zuidoost…read more I have regularly visited this restaurant since it was opened a good many years ago. At first it was just another Chinese, though certainly better than average. During the years, it has evolved to a speciality restaurant, from the usual fried rice and noodles to a more original Chinese haute cuisine, with a number of interesting Cantonese and Mongolian dishes. It is possible to broaden your Chinese food experience by going there every now and then. Or if you feel like it, just to have a good old "rijsttafel".

From reception, with a glass of bubbly, at either the cozy fireplace or the covered outside area (smoking permitted here.) One is taken on a journey of authentic Chinese delights. Either by making a selection yourself or having the staff arrange a number of surprise courses for your, with wine pairing if so desired. The attentiveness of the staff can not be overstated and is a compliment to the quality of the food. Above and beyond any you would normally find in the Netherlands.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is good, with ample seating and a low noise level which allowed for soft conversation. The waitress was wonderful and the service excellent. Never before have we recieved such fast service and delivery of our all-you-can-eat selections. Everything was wonderful, the sushi fresh and very well prepared, the wait-staff well trained and attentive without being overly intrusive. I brought my three kids, twin boys of 10 and my daughter of 13, and the inevitable spills, mess and high spirits were all very well handled. I am happy to give Ichi in Zeist a five star rating and urge you to drop in should the sushi mood take you while in the area.

Nevertheless they allowed us to quickly eat something before the place was full. We got 1.5 hours since our spot was actually reserved. Man, that food is great. No wonder they are in the Michelin Guide! We really enjoyed everything we've tried and come back another time to eat more (careful, they actually serve A LOT). If you are into Indo food, do not hesitate to go to this family owned restaurant, I repeat; do not hesitate to go. Amen.

Thanks for the thorough and accurate review, Michael.
