The shelves are teeming with second-hand books, surrounded by piles yet to be organized. The books are often 1-2 quid a piece, and the owner is a joy to talk to about the books he has, the books he's read, and the books you are reading. If you want a prominent shelf of the latest best-sellers, this is not the shop for you. If you want to wander slowly, letting your eyes explore, looking for lost treasure, then come here.

They opened at midnight for the release of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, which is where I got my copy from. It was a nice atmosphere and it felt good to support a small independent business rather than order off amazon. If you're ever in this neck of the woods then have a look.

They promote music by playing different albums in store, displaying 'what's playing' at the till point. It's similar to HMV in what it sells, but on a smaller scale. Good place to buy or browse with friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Rather upscale - Nice jewelry and a few other artisan items, but having read lots of guide books…read morebooks before arriving, we were expecting a broader mix if items. We ended up backtracking to other stores where I'd put off purchasing based on my expectations of the Longship.

Brilliant charity shop. They have a whole upstairs for clothing alone, books for 20p and all sorts…read moreof bric a brac. You never know what you'll find in here and the prices are incredibly cheap. They also sell home baking at the till area and the staff are always so cheerful and nice.
