This review is purely based upon the 'food' offered here. We were advised in the afternoon by one of the bar staff to "get in early to get a table as they were always busy in the evening" with respect to meals. When we arrived we managed to get a table as we were the only people at that time wanting to eat. Now we now why...
The starters were acceptable as they were cold meat terrine and salad. However the main courses were quite easily among the poorest offerings we have experienced. The sea food pie appeared to have been home made, frozen, defrosted and then 'multi-zapped' by what may be the biggest microwave in County Durham. To leave crusty outer covering and volcanic temperature inside. The other main was cumberland sausage presented on a bed of microwaved school smash which was of varying temperatures from cold to the surface of the sun. The assumption being it had been heated in the micro wave. The side vegetables were microwaved frozen stuff, they were not fresh. We had a flying visit from a waitress who asked if everything was OK, during the starter , but she disappeared after serving the mains. I offered my comments when paying the bill at the bar and was offered a refund which I declined as I prefered to post this review. It is up to you if you choose to eat here, but personally it will be a cold day in hell if we do. read more
