I'm a bit of an outdoors junkie and have a love-hate relationship with The North Face. They do some really good technical gear, but they also play on being a fashion label and unfortunately seem to price their items accordingly. Being in Bicester, the outlet store hardly escapes the fashion label niche, but the prices issue is happily resolved, as it's mainly discontinued or excess items, or seconds. You can get high-spec waterproof jackets with up to £100 off, ski jackets and trousers, softshells and base layers very cheap, and even a few tents. I bought some trousers which should have been £50 (well, they shouldn't have been they're not technical nor particularly stylish, but I guess people buy things at that price) for £10. Most items have nothing wrong with them, although some are definitely of dubious taste, and often they're only available in unusual sizes. A word of warning though: the women's sizes are American, so don't panic if you see size 4 or 6 on a pair of trousers! In general, I think you add 2 to the American size to get the UK size. read more
