Me mum used to say buy cheap buy twice. Quality shoes too are a must. The clothing here is light years away from the chain store made in Pakistan, India, China, Vietnam, Mexico. Ya get the point; the designs, the quality are quite wonderful and the practicality is top notch. This Barbour is in an outlet store, the sort of place where potentially one can still pick up a bargain but it's no longer guaranteed in these places. It used to be that genuine bargains were to be had but more often than not a lot of the merchandise sold here is now being produced cheaply solely to target this part of the market. Barbour is a relative newcomer store here. One of the coats I bought was discounted by almost £500. I am now able to withstand an Antarctic winter now I just need to get there to test it and I've January/February 2025 in mind. The staff were real helpful, friendly and greeted all visitors but honestly, not to diminish their jobs in any way, the quality of these goods really do sell themselves.

Moutain Warehouse is possibly my favourite outdoor clothing shop after our recent visit!…read more We were initially only browsing at the footwear section, when we noticed a sale rail at the fron of the shop with ski salopettes on. As we are going to Iceland, we figured that warm clothes would be a plus, and were more than happy to pay upto £50 for warm trousers as this is roughly what we've seen so far, so imagine our surprise and happiness when we realised they were all priced at £10!! We came out of the shop with £190 worth of trousers for £30 which was incredible. And they're a really good make. Will definitely be making another trip before we go away as who knows what other bargains we might pick up I also like that the shop is just by one of the railing openings so you can get straight back onto the car park.

Regatta and Craghoppers, two massive names in the outdoor survival game! This shop sells a lot of their stock at at least 20% cheaper than the main branch stores, sometimes 70% cheaper if it's their sale! They stock everything from gore-tex jackets and ponchos, to walking boots and wellingtons. They stock a range of tents, camping stoves and camping chairs, as well as waterproofs and rain hats for your festival days or just for a family camping trip. This place is definitely worth whizzing around before you shell out on similar items on the high street. this is simply because their stock is of the highest quality and you might as well save yourself a few quid and have a good look around the 140+ surrounding shops whilst you're here!

It hasn't and I am stuck with a coat that I have to "Step" into sometimes, as I can't zip it any other way most of the time. Apart from that disappointment, the coat is lovely and warm, and perfect for really cold/wet weather.

They have great sales, the people are knowledgeable (although the guys in the climbing section can be a bit arrogant) and the stock is good, high quality stuff. In other words, the opposite end of the spectrum to Blacks or Millets. Come here if you need to buy a waterproof jacket, walking boots or maps. There's a cafe upstairs too, which is very popular on wet days with walkers and climbers. It's ok, but nothing to write home about.

Very often specialist shops can have staff that think they are über cool for working there - not here, eager to help without being intrusive, and they chat to you about the product without trying to get you to buy - which is great - they provide the info and let you come to your own decision. This doesn't seem to be an exclusive to the Birmingham store - the Manchester one is similar. I'd thoroughly reccomend 10/10.
