The National museum showcases both art made by Norwegian artists (second floor) and cultural artifacts depicting and showcasing Norwegian history (first floor). We didn't have the museum on our plan, but the impressive size of the museum and the number of exhibits enticed us to give it a chance. Did not disappoint! (We also had the Oslo pass so it was free and a no brainer)
We didn't have too much time to explore it, but all the art pieces were very interesting and well displayed. There are some traditional art pieces that everyone knows such as The Scream by Munch, but also contemporary art pieces, some of which were interactive!
Definitely well worth a visit! read more
