The Mustard Seed organization in my opinion, should be investigated. They are building a Empire and profiting on the backs of the most vulnerable in Calgary, the HOMELESS. The new building downtown Calgary 1010 Centre Street, is not for the indigent, The Mustard Seed is charging market rents! The other older building offers Permanent Supportive Housing, the building is old, dirty and is being monitored by staff 24/7. The residents pay rent, however according to their "House Rules", "All Residents's whereabouts have to be reported to THE MUSTARD SEED in a 24-hour period, moreover, "Suite inspections will be conducted every Wednesday". "All Residents must pass a urine drug test prior to move-in" and "THE MUSTARD SEED will conduct urine drug tests on Residents based on exhibited behaviors and incidents"
This extreme Christian Ministries Organization does not appear to respect the laws of Canada and are taking an active role in subverting our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and taking on the role of our law enforcement by monitoring people whom may not be charged with any crime.
THE MUSTARD SEED has ADVERTISED in the career section, outlined in various job descriptions they have posted on line, Working Conditions column, 'This position is often fast-paced, and requires moderate amount of mental effort to analyze information and problem solve."
It is important to look at the leadership of this organization because the values, ethics and beliefs come from them, building an Empire on the backs of the indigent, is nothing more than total EXPLOITATION, and Calgarians who want to help homelessness, Help them by asking what is going on with THE MUSTARD SEED, is this organization being effective. Lets not assume they are doing a good job make them accountable. Calgarians, do your due diligence, make a difference in the lives of vulnerable people, take a critical look at this organization and the people running it. read more
