Specialties
The Music Studio offers a comprehensive music education starting from age 4. Our celebrated curriculum capitalizes on every child's innate love for music and passion for learning. Through four years of challenging and engaging group lessons to private piano lessons with our highly experienced faculty, our students learn to make, read, understand, and appreciate music. They develop skills and knowledge they can turn to other instruments, and they learn to play the piano with joy and accuracy.
We also offer short-term music classes for very young children and group piano lessons for adults. Whatever the age of our students, our teachers expertly guide them to new levels of musical understanding and proficiency.
We invite you to visit us and find out why we for more than 35 years, we have been the Capital Region's music school of choice.
History
Established in 1977.
One of the oldest and largest schools of its kind in the region and the country began with an upright piano, a poster of Beethoven, and a strong opinion.
In 1977, founder and Director, Noel Liberty, established The Music Studio in the kindergarten classroom of an in Albany, New York, determined to teach music differently.
Her objectives were simple: first, to teach music in a way that was both challenging and fun; second, to see students' musical knowledge and confidence increase, gently and measurably; and third, for students' musical experiences to lead to a love of music for them and their families. Unable to find books that met these criteria, she developed her own curriculum, wrote her own books, and introduced an entirely new kind of music education to the Capital Region. The school grew, added more faculty and more classrooms, but Mrs. Liberty's mission, to inspire and enable students to reach the highest musical standards, has never wavered.
