I'm amazed that there aren't more people who DON'T live in the neighborhood who aren't taking advantage of the restaurant. I'm even more amazed there isn't more traffic since they got Chef Larry. Larry is very good. He's laconic and somewhat intimidating, but Chef Larry is a CHEF, and you'll enjoy what he and his staff bring out. Larry is a treasure, in other words. You need to try them, but you need to call in advance to make sure they are serving when you want to arrive. To the immediate north of Greenwood, SC, as you come in on US-72, about 10 miles from Greenwood's town center, there's nothing that compares to Bermuda's for dining, and on any side of Greenwood, the restaurant at Bermuda's should be a destination restaurant for those of you who've missed out on it. Perhaps it's because Stoney Point isn't near the hotels in Greenwood that there's not much traffic here. Bermuda's IS a restaurant at Stoney Point that's open to the public, you'll have to look for it, and it's on par (pun intended) with the best restaurants Greenwood has to offer. Hell, I don't play golf, and I like it here. I don't understand why there isn't more dining traffic at Bermuda's from locals, other than the fact you may not know if you can get in because of a party that's rented the place, or even what their hours are. The chef (and his staff) are some of the more creative in the Greenwood area, the service (even if you don't live here) is outstanding, and the dining area and bars are cozy and friendly. This place may be the most well-kept secret restaurant in Greenwood, and I'm not sure if they want to keep it secret. If they do, I apologize. The kitchen is always willing to get creative for my vegetarian requests, depending on what they have: for those of you who are carnivores, I'm told by colleagues and friends that the meat-based dishes are outstanding. Indeed, Bermuda's is the first choice for my company's business dinners and meetings, since most of those include people looking for a good meat. You SHOULD call them in advance before visiting: the restaurant is usually only open at certain times (typically, dinner on Friday and Saturday, and Thursday night happy hour; they usually have lunch Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), and when the place is reserved for a party, wedding, reception, or whatever, there may not be dining service. As I mentioned, I live here, and I've walked up to the clubhouse several times only to find that I should have read my newsletter. As of this review, Bermuda's has been offering lunch on Saturday.

I booked the venue for 10/25, but on 10/23, things went left. Up until then, communication and everything else had been fine. However, the owner gave one of my vendors incorrect information regarding communication, which wasn't true and felt unprofessional. That's when my experience started to shift. Another thing that bothered me was being asked to pay a damage waiver, then later finding out from my decorator that the owner had been onsite during setup. When I arrived around 7:30 PM for my Halloween photoshoot, the owner was sitting outside in her car. While I was inside taking pictures, she remained nearby. Once I realized she was still there, I decided not to continue my shoot and texted my decorator to come gather her things. Once my decorator came to collect her items, the owner joined us inside and stayed there until we finished, which added to the uneasy feeling I already had. Even though the event itself was canceled and I only used the venue for a photoshoot, I still paid for full-day access and expected to feel comfortable during my rental time. The venue is beautiful, but the owner's approach and lack of professionalism really took away from what could have been a much better experience. Update to Owner's Response: First, let's talk about communication. You were being lazy -- plain and simple. You know we've been communicating through email and Facebook Messenger, and your own response to my message (which I'll gladly post) proves my point. Second, I changed my personal phone number, which I'm under no obligation to share with you, especially since we were already in contact through multiple other ways. Instead of reaching out by email or Messenger like you've always done, you chose not to contact me at all -- and then lied by saying you couldn't reach me. What's worse is you contacted my decorator first, before even attempting to message me directly, and I have receipts of you admitting it. Third, let's address the deposit situation. I was asked to pay a damage waiver while you were onsite the entire time, monitoring everything during setup and throughout the evening. That didn't sit right with me, because if you're physically present the whole time, what exactly is the waiver protecting you from? Also, when we book an event, we're paying for private use of that space during the hours listed on the contract -- not for the owner to hover or interfere. You're supposed to be on contact for emergencies, not stationed inside the venue watching over everyone like a chaperone. Lastly, I don't care if you and my decorator worked well together or if other clients like you being onsite -- I didn't ask for you to be there. My review reflects my experience, not anyone else's.

Throughout the process I felt that special attention was being given to my requests and timeframes. The owner even threw in some extras that I had not thought to ask for. I was grateful for her consideration, because that was above the tenets of our contract. Many of my guests remarked on the space and inquired about booking it for their events. I was so pleased, that I have already booked the space for another event this year. I am always excited/grateful when supporting small business owners goes well. This was a small wedding, 70 invited, with wedding Labor Day weekend, start of football, and lack of RSVPs, etc., as a corporate event planner myself, I prefer to have more than less, so catering was for 60 with agreement that leftovers would be packaged for us to divide between friends and family with clean up to be at 7PM. Attendance was around 25. When I arrived at reception i introduced myself in perso and confirmed the leftover plans. I was speaking with friends and was approached by a family member that the caterers had packed and left it was 5:30, people were returning for seconds/thirds, table was cleared, no food in kitchen. Reached out on Labor Day understanding holiday etc. I finally received a response yesterday that our contact is no longer with venue, no answer why they left ahead of schedule and did not notify me so we could parcel the leftovers. She claimed she "thought she had given it to me" and basically gave me a "whoops" when she looked back in her messages and found out she didn't. It is far more beautiful in person than what you see in the pictures, and the views from the inside and outside are amazing.
