I miss this place…read more Before it closed to the public, Sedge Garden Nursery was a longtime member of the community, and had a great selection of plants, shrubs and flowers. Everything we've gotten from there (except for the witch hazel that I accidentally stepped on, and 2 azaleas that died after their first winter was too harsh) has flourished, most especially our ginkgo, ram's horn willow, Japanese maples and okame cherry tree. And we still have 6 of the 8 azaleas we got from here. They guaranteed whatever they planted for one year, but we only had them plant one thing. Everything else, Earl and I planted ourselves, and hey, it still worked out. (Obviously if you plant something and don't do what you're supposed to do, it's not guaranteed; this isn't a big box store.) My only beef with this place is because they were understaffed, they hardly ever picked up the phone, and they didn't even really notify customers that they were closing the nursery to the public. It's still unclear to me if they do landscaping, lawn maintenance, or if they pick up their phone now.

When I bought them they look dead but the lady there assured me that they weren't dead but they were dormant and that they would pop back up. I've been watering them every day and have not seen any improvement when I called to ask the lady that helped me answered the phone. I told her about the issue and she told me it was my fault for not watering them correct correctly and they don't replace plants. I will never shop at sedge garden nursery again or recommend them and as a matter of fact I will deter people from using them in the future.

With serious winter weather in the forecast, we had serious concerns about losing power, so decided though we don't typically use the grill in the winter, we better have the tanks ready so we can cook if need be. I went over the morning before the storm, but was told I was too late, and their tank was already empty. But they said they had a truck coming around lunch, and took my name and number to call when it arrived. Sure enough, a few hours later, I got a call, and headed back. By the time I arrived there was a short line of people waiting, but they worked quickly, and kept the line moving. Pricing was very fair, in fact, much better than swapping tanks, as I've found the few times I saw them, they are not really full. When Sedgefield fills the tank, they fill it to 100%. They account for what is already in the tank, when they fill no games, no scams...you pay for what you get, and their pricing is $4 a gallon. Would certainly recommend to anyone, and will certainly give them future business. Not just for propane, but also for mulch or gravel when we do some landscaping work in the spring. Always good to have an honest business to do business with.

I told James I wanted to remove the threat to my shed, but do as little damage possible to the tree. He agreed & explained how he'd trim in a way that would allow the branches to keep growing without damaging the shed. Other people tried to rip me off by claiming they'd have to cut WAY more than necessary, just so they could charge more. James, Emily & their son JJ did the job today. It took about an hour & was exactly as we discussed. And, aside from the fact that the shed roof is now visible lol, you'd never even know they were here. They hauled away all the cut limbs & didn't even leave tracks from backing the truck/trailer into my yard! I went with James because he knew his stuff, gave a fair price & just seemed like a good person. After meeting his family & seeing their work, I'm SO happy I followed my gut.
