We grabbed tickets and got some popcorn. The popcorn was great. The theater is a decent size. I'm not sure if the seats are original or how long they have been there. I made sure to test out a couple seats before choosing as they weren't in the best shape but that is part of the charm! It's so cool seeing an old school family ran theater. It's located right in the heart of Waterton Village. It cannot be missed. What drew me to this place was....the simplicity. It's a "throwback", "mom and pop" type theater. While I was visiting Waterton, the Opera House was showing 1 film at 1 showtime. That's how straightforward this place was. And that's what made me a fan of this theater. I was staying in Waterton for 2 days....exploring the national park, hiking and immersing myself in a beautiful setting. Although I hadn't seen a movie in months, I just thought to myself....what an appropriate time to go catch a flick! They were featuring The Lion King (remake) at 7:30pm. This was the only showing. It was no problem for myself. During the evening there's not much going on in town other than having dinner. So I was excited to go to the movies. It costs $10 - Canadian per person. Also, they only accept cash. No credit cards. Upon entering they hand you a tiny little ticket stub, just like the old fashioned days. Inside, the concession stand is centered right in front of you in the lobby area. They have popcorn, drinks and snacks combos. The popcorn was freshly homemade and the smell emanated throughout the theater. How could I not buy some popcorn, lol! I arrived 20 minutes ahead of time and found a seat. The theater was quite big. The seats were comfortable with enough space. In all the theater maybe filled up halfway, so I had plenty of room to spread out. The Lion King was a good movie. Yes, everyone has seen it. But watching this animated version was unique. I genuinely enjoyed this relaxing "mental getaway" viewing this movie in the quiet town of Waterton. It was quite therapeutic to sit back and lounge for a few hours. My only hope....was that maybe they could have featured a different movie for the 2nd evening I spent here. Unfortunately, they showed the Lion King again. Regardless, I absolutely appreciated this place, the setting and vibe was just what I was yearning for. For anyone visiting Waterton Lakes National Park, absolutely come over to this Opera House and spend the night at the movies.
