It started when I came in with my family party of 5 My grandson who is 10 was charged as an adult, I asked I thought it was 12 or 13, she was short as her response " it's the rules, do you still want to dine" I'm here with the family we are hungry so I bit my tongue. Dinning experience was and is always great, our waitress outstanding. What happened at the end kinda threw me in a tailspin. Today is Saturday Aug 30. We just left around 9pm so this just occurred. We had our crabs we paid for and was stuffed, so being that our crabs was on the table I asked for a Togo box (prior week Friday Aug22 they gave us , me and wife to go boxes), the waitress (again she was outstanding) said she had to ask her mgr(I thought that was odd), they brought out our crabs and then the mgr (white woman tattoo on her right arm) came over no hi how are you no nothing and said if we want them to go we have to pay for them, now I'm with family so her attitude and the conversation was starting to get crazy, she accused me of not telling the truth and was trying to make me pay. I wanted my tickets back she said no, you you can pay for the crabs then all of a sudden, she said she not doing anything and will call security, at that point i never raised my voice to her so why would she threaten me with security. I did lose it for a second and told her to call freaking (bad word) security I have money. I am a disabled vet who has eaten here or paid for pple to eat here over 100 times, family come in town I bring them here. I will in time return but it will not be anytime soon. If you can treat a disabled vet like this how are you treating the rest of Americans.

AMBIANCE (4/5): Tons of indoor & outdoor patio seating, although it seemed like everyone pre-ordered or picked up to go. They have 2 long communal tables and a ton of 2-4 people tables. The wood tables make it look rustic, pop music playing so it's not awkwardly quiet. SERVICE (3/5): You order at the counter first, a single cashier, but it goes fairly quickly. Most of the staff is in the back kitchen. It's more "serve yourself". You grab your own drinks from the fridge, all utensils, napkins, and water are already on the table, and throw your own trash away, everything is in disposable containers. FOOD (4/5): $22 BUILD YOUR OWN BOWL: I personally didn't like the signature rice, I wanted the crispy rice fritters but they were sold out at 1:30pm on a Friday. The crispy Brussels were AMAZING! Definitely get this for a (+$2.50 upgrade). Bulgogi ribeye was sweet and delicious! Cashier offered a side of spicy Korean sauce which I didn't realize I'd be charged for, just wish she told me it was an additional cost (+$0.75). It doesn't need any extra sauce, the bowls are very saucy! And I'm a heavy sauce person. Also added a fried egg (+$2). The bowl was very delicious, minus the signature rice, I'd get all crispy Brussels next time! $4 BUTTERFLY TEA: very sweet, but good! $4 MINI COOKIES (4-PACK): I got 2 chocolate chip and 2 banana chip cookies. A little dry, but yummy. OVERALL (4/5): This is a FAST-CASUAL restaurant. They ask for automatic tip at the cashier, but you pretty much service yourself except when they bring out the food. I honestly wasn't expecting to spend this much for a quick lunch (total was $36), but I wanted to try everything. Now I know what I like and don't like here and excited to try some of the other bowl options! Definitely recommend this place! Very yummy!

The pork chops and country fried steak were also big hits. The corn bread was not exceptional but still very good. Not everything stood out as great but certainly nothing we had stood out as bad. It was all a decent value as well. We had a couple folks in our party who are very thrifty, always looking for a deal, and vocal when they don't feel like they are getting a value. This time there were no complaints. Great place.

It's always sad to me when this happens, because in my opinion having great food is the hard part. Seeing them excel in that but fail the easy stuff is hard :( What they struck out on: - host and hostess chatting when we walked up, they seemed to be complaining about something. We didn't receive any smiles. Didn't feel like they wanted to be there. Yes I understand it's a job, but warm welcomes are important and they are the first impression for a customer when they walk in. - It was 80 degrees and dreadfully humid outside since it had been raining. They had the doors open and I didn't see or feel any fans or air conditioning running. I saw a patron using a hand fan while we ate. - Since there was no air conditioning running, all the steam from the dishwashing and cooking in the kitchen came out to the dining area and lingered in the air the entire time we ate. We thought it was smoke at first but it didn't have a smell, when we walked out to leave I felt the steam leaving the kitchen area - Unbearably loud. I'm not sure why the acoustics are so bad but there is just nothing absorbing any noise. All the ruckus just echoes. Pretty sure this was mainly due to the tables being somewhat close together and the chairs having no sound buffers. It was suuuper loud when people got up to leave and when bussers were cleaning the tables. - Out of the fried green tomatoes which we were excited to order. - I ran out of water while eating. My drink didn't get filled until maybe 10-15 mins later. - Our waitress was running around, very busy. We didn't get checked on that much. It wasn't her fault. She was very courteous and was working hard. They seemed to not have enough staff on hand. - The napkins shed everywhere? When I opened my napkin a cloud of lint came up from it. It was all over my black shorts when we left. - Ends of the tables were all scratched up. - Decor is a bit of a hodgepodge. Having fake candles at each table for a place that gives southern farmhouse is an interesting choice. - The pimento cheese plate came with only 5 mini pieces of toast. We had to ask for more which was an upcharge. There's no way all the pimento cheese could be eaten on 5 pieces. Their home runs: - The food was amazing. I really liked the steak frites. I ordered the steak medium. It was nice and tender. The fries were seasoned and crispy. The chimichurri sauce was great. My friend and I both liked the pimento cheese and the bread that it came with. We weren't crazy about the house pickles. My friend loved her caesar salad. - The prices are great. Super affordable for high quality food. - Menu is expansive. - We had no wait to be seated. - No trouble parking. Location is convenient. As you can see, the list of cons is very very long. It was truly an odd thing to experience, since the place had such great food. I'm thinking the Curious Pig needs a restaurant management consultant or something? We might try this place again sometime later. We'll see.
