The MBJ does an excellent job of reporting local happenings. Memphis reporters consistently write well and the paper provides all the information you could ever want should you be in marketing, sales, or PR. If you're not in those fields, only the occasional story about your own particular field will be of interest. If you're not in business in Memphis, it's likely you won't find the need to ever pick this journal up. If you are, though, it's indispensable.

I've had the opportunity to work with Chris Sheffield for quite a while, and not only is he a great writer, but he's also a super nice guy. They publish a fantastic reference book every year called the Book of Lists that contains listings of all of the top businesses in a variety of industries with very detailed information on each. We stopped by to kill some time before our movie, and I decided to grab some snacks before we leave. The cashier who took our order was not very friendly, and not surprising either given past experiences here. After waiting for a bit, our bakery items still hadn't been handed to us so I went to check. One of the baristas (I believe her name was Courtney?) didn't acknowledge me at first and curtly asked if I had already ordered. I explained that we had a movie in 10 minutes and just needed our bakery items. Instead of simply grabbing them for me, she responded with a rude attitude saying orders are processed in the order received. I would understand if I had ordered a drink but I was just waiting on cookies and a brownie, something that takes zero effort to grab. The interaction could have been handled much better and unfortunately this level of service seems to be the norm here. That being said, aside from the unfriendly baristas, this Barnes & Nobles is clean and well organized.

I have made several phone calls to try to find out why my paper has not been delivered and I get told it is guaranteed to be here in 2 days! Those days have come and gone! Still no delivery but they sure take my money! I called again today and I'm told they have credit my account and will rectify the problem and get my paper delivered to my home. My checking account is NOT SHOWING CREDIT AMOUNT! So technically I've still paid for TWO MONTHS SERVICE without getting anything in return!
