DON'T USE QUICK CONNECT! The remote service didn't fix the problem, they just did a few…read morediagnostics (on a Wednesday, and I paid them more $250 for nothing) but they said that I got 30 minutes of free service if I'm still having problems within a 60 day time period. I called them and explained it still wasn't working and, after they contemplated the issue, decided it may be a clogged ink tube, and that I should bring it in rather than have them come to my house because of potential ink getting everywhere while repairing. So, I took it to their storefront on Thursday morning. They said it could take just 30 minutes or it could be longer, they would call. No call. Four hours later I call them and they said they were still working on it - I think this included a repeat of the work they did remotely. Friday, I called for an update and they said they ordered a print head so they could test to see if that was the problem. They would call me back the first part of next week. No news on Monday. Tuesday they called and said it was the print head and that the part and labor would be an additional $150. I told them to go ahead (my mistake?!) and I would pick it up that afternoon. I got there to pick it up at 3:45, reviewed the invoice... which said they installed a new print cartridge - which they didn't do (this printer doesn't even use cartridges!) They said they wiped down the chassis - it still had smudges all over it. They said they had wrapped it - it wasn't wrapped so I had to ask them to do that. I asked if they gave me the 30 minute credit mentioned above - kinda got the run around on that with them saying the repair took longer than that so there was still a charge.... I get that, but was I credited for the 30 minutes? still don't know. They were going to talk to the owner to see if this charge was correct, but I needed to be somewhere in 15 minutes so said I'd try to be back before they closed at 5:30. I returned at 5:15. It was ready for me. The invoice indicated $159.80 but imagine my surprise when my receipt showed $164.59 (they neglect to tell people there is a 3% credit card charge which doesn't show on the invoice!) So not I've spent $417.56 (ALMOST THE PRICE OF A NEW IDENTICAL PRINTER!!!). This all started because the black ink wasn't printing and the color ink was faded. At one point they told me the black print head was defective and could affect the colors printing - come to find out this printer has only one print head that does the black and colored inks combined. After I got home I realized they had altered the verbiage on the invoice - (probably to cover their "hinies"). THESE GUYS ARE "WANNA BE" COMPUTER NERDS WITHOUT ANY PEOPLE SKILLS!!! Their communications skills are pretty much non-existent and the customer service is lacking. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! EXTRA NOTE ----- The owner called me after reading this review. He initially tried to resolve the issue but was willing to give me a partial refund ONLY if I removed this review and/or gave him 5 stars. Bribery? I just wanted to tell of my experience and let others be the judge. He stated that I needed my computer fixed and they ultimately fixed it. Job done. SwitchUp Media is transparent about their pricing (which is so decent and unique of them when I think back on all of my vendors) and you are paying so much less for how much they give you. I mean, you get TWO videographers who are with you ALL day (they stayed at our wedding longer than our photographers did) and they took hours of footage, captured incredible shots, and then they edited it down into a priceless memory with a beautiful highlight video and DVD of the entire day. And I just got the basic package! These guys offer so much more and can and will do so much for you. The day we got our highlight video back I think I watched it 100 times. They really take the time to capture the "feel" of your wedding and are spot on. I love watching all the highlight videos they have done because they all give you a really good feeling which I also feel is testimony to their character. Having NO money, I Googled "website design for non-profits" and Firespring popped up. First, their OWN website looked great. Their text was clear and well-written and I figured it was worth signing up for the free demo. I was blown away. The use of imagery, page layout, variety of content - all of it was above and beyond my expectations and the amateurish sites we'd had before. The only thing giving me pause was the cost. The $90 monthly fee would have to come out of my pocket. But we couldn't really reach people who weren't into social media without a website and it was urgent that as many people as possible have a source they could go to for factual, up-to-date information and action alerts, as well as other resources. So what if I didn't eat for a week? LOL I won't lie. It was NOT easy. The way pages are populated is clunky and way too redundant with multiple clicking and, for me, too many steps in the process that if one is forgotten could screw the page up. Vast improvements have obviously been made since the other review from 2012 since I don't even know what html is (I thought it was an abbreviation for "hotmail") and there IS a photo editor. Anyway, I started in the middle of August and the site went live on November 1. BUT, the one reason I will always recommend Firespring is the PEOPLE. From Zach, the first person I spoke with, to Megan, my project manager, to Tania Marie, webinar teacher and support lifeline, I felt valued, respected, and supported. Whenever I needed help (a LOT), all I had to do was call and either Megan or Tania Marie would spend as much time as they needed to walk me through things or just pull me back from the edge! Though they certainly had good reason to, I never felt like they rolled their eyes and made fun of me in the break room. Never a hint of judgement or snark in their voices, no impatience or frustration with my ignorance. To start with a positive, their customer service is wonderful and are quick to respond...which is good because you are going to be spending A LOT of time with them. Our organization signed up with Firespring as a means for volunteers and staff with little tech experience to be able to update our site. This is absolutely impossible with the design of Firespring. The biggest issue is its reliance on strict HTML coding. One must have strong HTML programming skills and be able to handle the tedious keystroking of every code (it doesn't even have the handy auto-fill as most basic editors had). There are no toolbars, no shortcuts, just plain HTML reminiscent of programming during the Clinton administration. After a sharp learning curve of maneuvering around the awkward interface, a users time gets eaten up by the lack of an image editor. Even a simple dragging of corners for re-sizing is beyond the technology of this antiquated system. Keep a separate image editor open on the side at all times, because you're going to need it. The forms allow for no tweaking in terms of design/appearance, thus very unprofessional looking, and to upload files, only 4 allowed at a time to their server which in turn they will EMAIL to you! Unless you're looking for good customer service and some pretty graphics/color schemes, I strongly advise to seek the numerous other services out there....most of which are easily found for free these days.
