Feels like you really have left Essex once your inside and the decor in the downstairs bar (quite shag pad) and upstairs restaurant (fantastic chairs) are equally great and suit the different atmospheres. Food was i thought (and im a student) totally reasonable (mixed starter, sweet and sour pork, chicken noodles and egg fried rice, all delicious, came to around 12 pounds each plus drinks) and the staff were very friendly. Almost empty when i arrived but began to get busy after about half past 8 on a Thursday night. Also a beautiful little balcony which manages to make Westcliff seem picturesque with views of the sea and very comfortable. I feel like I've found a real gem here tucked away in Westcliff (opposite Thai Nova). Thank you for a fantastic night! Of course it helped having fantastic company, which i cant vouch for. When I took the food back and quietly explained my reasoning I was met with extreme rudeness from the owner/manager who basically told me to leave the food and to never come back, whilst huffily throwing the food I had returned back into the bag. I thought this behaviour was completely unwarranted and created an uncomfortable atmosphere for both myself and other diners when I was trying to keep the matter calm and quiet so as not to cause a scene and put others off their food. Wouldnt go back if you paid me, awful food, only outdone by the manager/owners awful behaviour. Avoid.

The only thing letting the restaurant down is the lack of ambience. When I've visited there have only ever been 5 or 6 other tables occupied. It makes the very large restaurant seem very quiet and you therefore feel you have to be very quiet, nearly whispering across the table to your dining partner. They do take away too but it's a bit pricey so I would always opt to dine in.

This Thai restaurant is located by a medical centre and block of council flats just outside of Southend's town centre. I have never dined in, but I used them for take-away every now and again. The last time we ordered, our meal took an hour and a half to be delivered (we live 5 minutes up the road) and after the first taste, I realised that the chicken in my thai curry was as good as raw. Never, never again!

The food is always great and the set menus are really good value. The restaurant doesn't lend itself to large groups, but for a quiet dinner with a friend or partner I would highly recommend it. They also do take away.

Portions are enormous, which helps to make up for the fact it's not cheap! Highlights for me include the refreshing soup with zesty lemongrass, and the tempura vegetables.
