I took my girlfriend to this restaurant this evening (18th November) as it is her birthday. Maybe I picked the night that the chef was off because quite frankly, it was appalling. How Thai food can taste of absolutely nothing is a mystery to me. Shockingly, my seabass turned up half raw. This is not an exaggeration, it was actually half not cooked. I should know, I'm a chef. My girlfriend's seafood dish 'marinated in chilli and lime' appeared clothed in curdled coconut milk and tasted of none of the advertised ingredients. The service, however, was friendly and I found myself apologising to the staff for not eating the inedible car crash of a dinner that they had the misfortune to have laid in front of us. To add insult to injury, we were informed that as we'd had the temerity to actually attempt to eat some of our 'food', we (well I) would not have anything removed from the bill. I am incandescent with rage over the way we were treated and having seen more favourable reviews of this restaurant am more than convinced that whoever was cooking was not the regular chef. Awful. I tried to comment on the Rak Chang's website but one can't actually contact them through it so I shall be returning tomorrow to demand my money back (less drinks and average starter). If you want Thai, I'd advise you to go to the other establishment further up The Broadway. read more
