This is a cracking pub. It's nicely done out and has a very warm friendly atmosphere. It's laid back and chilled all the way. Now onto the important bit and the drinks. Well I love it. Simple as that. The wine list has some excellent tipples on and it isn't ridiculously expensive either. The ale is finely kept and there is a nice selection as well. My only problem is deciding my beverage of choice. As for the food, it's real served pub grub of the highest order. This place deserves a good old pat on the back. They are also super relaxed about dogs and walkers too, which is good to know if you want a walking stop off point to refuel.

Just down the A65 in Ilkley, this food-focused walkers' haunt is one of the best. With low lighting, dark wood and cosy seating to compliment the all-important open fire, this is prime date territory, and the restaurant-quality food and extensive wine list (plus a good soft drink selection for the driver) will ensure an evening to remember. On my visit I enjoyed a spinach, squash and goat's cheese lasagne - a deliciously fresh-tasting use of seasonal, local produce - and a melt-in-the-mouth cheeseboard accompanied by a tart quince jelly. I can heartily recommend both. Although food is clearly the main event here, a decent selection of house and guest ales means its also worth just popping in for a drink, and with the pub's position just five minutes from the centre of Ilkley, a quaint, up-market spa town, and at the start of the Dales Way, there are plenty of opportunities to walk off any excesses.

The pub has a bar area and a restaurant area - we only ever went into the bar as you could eat int here and it was really cosy (dogs are also allowed!). The staff were incredibly friendly and chatty (lets face it, Yorkshire, particularly North Yorkshire folk are possibly the most friendly on the planet - i challenge you to disprove this!). The food was INCREDIBLE. Nothing fancy pants, just really good food, VERY big portions (trust me on this, you dont need three courses - choose your weapon of starter or dessert to go alongside your main - we made the mistake one night and 1) couldnt eat it all and 2)pretty much rolled home). We spent an evening in the pub, had a meal and then sat playing card games - we felt incredibly welcome. So welcome that we ended up visiting three times in a week long holiday. As for the food...Different class. Real pies, chunky sandwiches and fantastic gourmet burgers. You have to try the Portobello and goats cheese burger. Everyone needs one in their life. The deli board is also a terrific starter to share with the family bursting with olives, feta cheese and dips. When I first moved up into West Yorkshire territory I hadn't really heard anything about Ilkley, and when my flatmates decided we would go for a visit, all the people local to the area shouted out in unison On Ilkley Moor Bar T'at. Excuse you? Apparently it derives from the little ditty about being on Ilkley Moor and your hat blowing away and thus being left on the moor Bar T'at. Funny Yorkshire folk. Anyhoo, Ilkley is not without it's fair share of nice places for a glass of wine or a swift pint and some food to enjoy, and Bar T'at comes under that umbrella. The feeling from the bar is definitely intimate, with dark wood and wooden bench/booths, low lighting and narrow walkways, but it's not too intrusive. Descend the spiral staircase and there's another space to enjoy, primarily used for people indulging in Bar T'at pub lunches, but for me I prefer the patio area outside, especially in days of a more appealing temperature. The menu is nice and concise, not too much on it, but plenty enough to choose from, and the prices, well they're a bit on the expensive side of pub food, but it is really nice food, nice portions, and feeling of being full stays with you longer than you'd think. On cold days, I would say check out the homemade Shepherd's Pie, complete with vegetables, tasty and part of your five a day. Main courses £7, sandwiches between £5 and £6, sides £2, and starters about the same. Really nice! Thumbs up!

Having nipped into many a countryside pub solo before I feared the odd looks which are often donated to myself, a single young female, as if to suggest that I must be strange for coming in alone to drink. None of those looks, so first impressions were good. I had a very delectable gin and tonic, served with lime, and had a good chill on one of their comfy seats. The best bit? They're situated in the huge car park courtyard right near some of the best shops. Perfect!

The starters were go good the three of us couldn't choose which one we wanted, so a surprised staff member delivered their first (I'm sure) four starters for three people (there's nothing wrong with one for the table right!?). There was quite a strange silence fallen over the table as we devoured our starters. The creamy garlic mushrooms were amazing, the goats cheese peignet with pickled beetroot (for sharing) was delicious, and the pork spring rolls and pâté were met with equal delight. The mains of slow cooked pork belly (with roasts not mash), the steak & ale pie with chips and corn fed chicken supreme were all very well presented and more importantly, tasted amazing. The pork with LOTS of crackling was only let down let down by the lack of Yorkshire pudding (I know, not meant to have it with Pork dinner but I wanted one and it wasn't allowed due to exact numbers being made). The food was washed down with two bottles of white Rioja and followed by some beautiful desserts of chocolate brownie and Baileys Creme Brûlée with cookie. All in all, a perfect Sunday roast and for £122, was pretty impressive. Note: the staff were young but were absolutely honest and professional. It was great to see and they brought the food out promptly and couldn't have been nicer. A great find.

It really was a pleasure to hang around here, despite being ever so slightly chilly (I'm used to the balmy climate of London). The views are awesome, there's wildlife everywhere and plenty of dogs around if you're a dog person. The lunch was in the cruck barn and this is really an. Exceptional building, it looks old despite being only 10 years old! The decor is perfect. Except maybe the projection of the menu, not the biggest fan if that (it was hard to read). The food was impeccable, I had the pigeon and venison and it was perfect, the table generally seemed very pleased with their food so I think everything else was good too! The roast looked incredibly, serious food envy there. The drink selection, as you would expect in a decent traditional Yorkshire pub, was local and very very good. Out of them, The Fleece is the best for quality (but not cheap) pub food, I was reliably informed by a local, and then sweetly taken there to verify this. The interior retains the traditional pub feel - a low ceiling, fire place, real ale and dark, unregimented furniture and a dog or two lying on the stone floor. You can still stand at the bar to get a pint but it is mostly waitress service in gastro-pub style. They have a great menu if you are into meat - lamb shank and good fish. They were even able to modify my fish, potatoes and vegetables so that it was dairy and gluten free - not a hard thing to do in this case but I always appreciate the effort. The lamb shank of my Addingham local looked like it was done to perfection.
