Gail, the owner, was very friendly and welcoming from the start, and she runs a wonderful program for infants. My daughter smiles when she sees Gail every morning! Gail makes a point to greet each family personally, and you can tell that she truly cares about each child and remembers details about each one's day. We found A Place for Children after checking out all the larger daycare centers, and and it was a relief to find a quality option for daycare that didn't have a year-plus waiting list. Primrose is right at the opening of our neighborhood (Heritage / River Bend Estates) and we loved our proximity to the school, but in Feb 2022 there wasn't a full-time opening available for our son at Primrose. For a while we had him at three different preschools in the area in order to have Monday through Friday coverage, since we both work full time and have no local family to help. He was originally just at Primrose on Tuesdays & Thursdays and we were on waitlists for a full-time spot. Eventually, full time spots opened up at all three of the preschools, but it wasn't even a question for us -- we had already fallen in love with Primrose and the teachers in the PSP classroom. Drop offs at Primrose went much smoother and he genuinely seemed happier there. Other things that stood out were the high level of security, and the constant communication and updates through the Procare app. On top of the comfort and assurance, other aspects, like the healthy menu for the provided meals and snacks and the fact that nap-time linens were provided and laundered for us, were icing on the cake. The leadership, administrative staff, and all of our son's teachers were incredibly supportive, communicative, kind, and generous with their time. It was amazing to see how every staff member, even teachers in other classrooms, knew his name and would say "hi" to him in the hallways or at school events like Spring Fling, Picnic in the Park, etc. There is truly nothing better than knowing your child is safe and cared for, and we're so thankful for Primrose for providing that and so much more.

I have to repost this because somehow my previous review was deleted by somebody…read more I do not post this review lightly or with malice but I feel as a parent I should make sure our experience is represented for others seeking to use this school. Our initial experience with the school was very positive. About 6 months after our start we had both teachers change in our classroom. We didn't think much of it as we were sold on the process and learning paths the school offered were the difference. Our newly 3 year old at this point started receive a lot more "feedback" on things going on at school. These were mostly things around not lining up when coming in from playground, not sitting down when told to during story time and having trouble coming in from outside playtime. Our initial thoughts were that this is something they would work on at school and we would reenforce at home....Then we got requests to come in for "parent teacher conferences" this is something we came in during work hours multiple times to do. We took on our part to try to reenforce lessons from home into school while they gave some activities they would do but we were never provided with any comprehensive plan or any real followup on how they were working in school to help "correct" her. All incidents through these months were all non-violent and only about not following exact instructions around when to lay down or go out. She is only 3 years old. After a few weeks they decided to start sending home a journal of every "incident" forcing the teachers to fill out this daily and checking in on us that we were reading it and bringing it home everyday. At this point they were just calling "leadership" every time she did something they did not like or she was not conforming to the current activity. We had been doing our best at home but these things were mostly happening at school. This came to a head a few months later as we did our best to meet these unrealistic expectations from the leadership of the school for a little human who was only 3 and doing her best to understand their very specific requirements. At this point she started becoming scared and sad to go to school and told us she had been hit by another kid. We brought these concerns to the school and were told that the hitting was "being handled". Once we made this compliant within a few weeks we had been told that suddenly her incidents were escalating and she was crying uncontrollably during activities that had been much easier before, nap, switching activities she wanted to continue and such. This was very out of character for us and we again made very strong complaints about how there had been no followup to the earlier incidents and no plan of action in the class or to her individually to help with this. I guess this was our mistake. After that we were told within a week that they intended to send her home for any incident that they considered disruptive, which they did one day later. So I started going to school 3 times a day to help checkin and make sure she understands what was expected for half a week. The first day I did not go in multiple times (after getting a glowing report from her teacher and positive input about her attitude) I was called and told to pick her up because she had another "incident". This was our last day. I am sure their brand of child education works for some but I put this review out to make sure parents who see these warning signs don't wait as long as we did. Don't have to have a child asking if they are "bad" and start apologizing almost constantly to us. She was put in a new school and after a week of the teachers there helping her get over this she was able to start accepting quiet time and safety rules around the playground with no problems. I want to be clear that we did like our new teachers and think they were doing the best they could. This was a complete failure of what they call their "leadership" team who seem to be more concerned with passing blame to us as the child than leading any efforts to find healthy resolutions to a 3 year old.

I have never seen a daycare where they would have so many different activities - they have swimming, yoga, science, gym, judaics - kids are always doing something. They also have a beautiful new playground outside, and a play room inside for colder weather. I love that my daughter gets exposed to Jewish traditions, they celebrate Jewish holidays, and send shabbat bag with a different child every Friday to celebrate with family. Every morning all classes get together in the lobby to sing songs and start the day. Everyone always smiles and greets you, it truly feels like family here.

Even after moving out to Ballwin, we've kept her at this same Kindercare location because of the bonds she's made with the other toddlers and her teachers. WHY WE CHOSE THIS LOCATION: When we were looking for daycare for our daughter, we did a lot of online research. Some of that research was looking up ratings for each place, like you're obviously doing now. Throughout the reading-up-on-reviews process, we kept in mind that negative reviews are often more common, as people with great things to say about places tend not to be very vocal on Yelp or Google. We also looked at data that's less subjective or disputable. What incidents were reported at the locations you're considering? Are they licensed? Are they accredited? (There's a good description of accreditation and why it matters here: http://www.kindercare.com/about-us/who-we-are/accreditation.) I encourage you to do as much research as you feel comfortable with. This is obviously an important decision. So, we saw that, at the time, the Creve Coeur Kindercare was licensed, accredited and even working toward a second accreditation (I think it has gotten it, too, since then). We saw it wasn't too far away from home, so that was nice. We visited a couple of other locations nearby and, to be honest, they seemed dirtier, or more chaotic, or less safe. That's partially where that accreditation comes in. The weekly rate did seem like a lot until we did more research and we saw that it was competitive with other daycares' rates. Yes, it is still a decent amount of money, but the safety and education of your child is worth it. And again, it's nowhere near the cost of Montessori school, for example. Plus, rates go down on your child's second and third birthdays. SAFETY & FOOD: [This section was deleted to save space. Please speak with the location for these details.] CURRICULUM: Each day, teachers will send home a report on your child's activities, what they learned and how they acted. It's really helpful to follow along for those parents who are interested. Our daughter has responded seemingly very well to their teaching style. Her communication skills are very advanced for a child her age, and she has really taken to learning as much as possible. Of course, it's hard to say if this is just our daughter or if this is Kindercare's doing, but I just had to brag on my little girl some, I guess! Again, when you visit, ask what the kids are learning at the time. They have lesson plans they follow, so the answer should be an easy one to get. Also, in case you're worried, they don't have TVs in the rooms, so they won't just be watching Barney all day. STAFF: Everyone has been wonderful to me. I like to stick around when I drop my daughter off and when I pick her up and talk to her teachers. I'll ask how she did, what her mood was, if she did anything (positive or negative) noteworthy. All the teachers have seemed invested in our daughter's care, education and growth. Some have decades of experience with professional childcare, even at Kindercare. Others are going to college to study it. The woman who previously managed the location was wonderful, but recently left to pursue an altogether different career. Her replacement is very kind, knowledgeable and vibrant and, while I'm no expert, she seems to be doing a fantastic job in the month or two since she started. BONUS: Once a month, on most months, the center will host a "Parents' Night Out" where, for an extra $15, they will feed and watch your child until 9. This is a wonderful way to have a built-in date night on the cheap, especially for people like us who don't have family close by to babysit on a regular basis. They also provide crackers for the ride home, which really come in handy with kids once they need snacks to keep them civil during car rides. There are plenty of smaller details, but this should cover the bulk of it. To be fair, this is the only daycare we have ever brought our daughter to, so we don't have any other experiences to compare Creve Coeur Kindercare with. But I'm just happy that my daughter is safe and learning everything she can in an environment that is well-suited to her. I hope this covers any questions you may have about the location. Her reports are pretty much always accurate, and even if they weren't I understand that things happen and the curriculum is subjected to change. I think people putting a 1- star review on every single social media platform should be a tad more lenient, but that's just me. It's not like the teachers sit around and do nothing all day. Anyhow, my daughter has learned SO much since going here, and has improved on so many different levels- especially regarding listening, spelling, and reading. I also love how they incorporate learning through science and art projects every single day. Our whole family loves Goddard!
