When I was a kid, I wanted to be a chef or a baker. For one thing, I liked witches and I would imagine making soup or certain dishes as if I was making witches brew or healing tonics. And of course I love food. I would experiment at home but it wasn't technically experimenting as most of the baking or cooking I tried were using box-based recipes. Sad, I know. XD
I wanted to use actual ingredients and recipes, learn and feel like an actual chef, so my mom enrolled my sisters and I in the basic baking class at The Maya Kitchen during our high school days. The kitchen we worked at was huge, nice and clean and filled with kids in all ages. The instructor was patient, friendly and was very accommodating to everyone. She would visit each table to guide us through the process and the instructions were easy to understand. My sisters and I had fun and we resisted the urge to have a food fight as I'm sure some other kids did as well, hehe. The cakes, cupcakes and cookies we made were really good and we made a lot of friends.
The Maya Kitchen offers a lot of different courses to suit ones needs and they also have special classes for holidays and occasions like Mother's Day and a cooking and baking camp for kids. It's a great place to learn cooking/baking and to make new friends! read more
