A man salon. Never been to one. I've been follically impaired for a while so I just shave my head. But my son needed a haircut so we decided to see if we could sneak him in. They had an opening and got him right in. I noticed they do beard trimming and shaping so I decided I would try that. What a great time. Not only did I get a beard trim for the first time, but it was a full service trim, with oils and hot towels and a straight razor. It was awesome. Got a scruffy beard? Treat yourself. My son wanted pictures of his haircut because it came out exactly how he wanted it and he wants to be able to show what he wants next time. I visited the man salon about a week ago. Upon walking through the front door I immediately noticed a purple hair female sitting at the front lobby customer service desk counter talking loudly on her personal cell phone. With customers waiting her call continued without pause. It was obvious the call she was on wasn't an "immediate family emergency " call. Based on her actions/inactions her call seemed to take precedence over the customers. I've patronized the man salon for about a year however I've never seen customer service this poor. Her substandard customer service projected a disconnected, unfavorable, unprofessional, "I'm here only for a paycheck" vibe. The business, the business owner, and the customers deserve much better than she was capable of. With the right employees this business has tremendous potential. Salon does not know how to do proper line ups or fades! I asked for a low fade and line up to meet my military grooming standards and this is what i got. The line up got pulled far and back. If you are a person looking for any type of skin fade, hard part, line up, under cut or pomp style hair cut i do not recommend comming here and finding somone out in town whose familiar with cutting that type of hair. read more

I have been going to this salon for years. I recently settled in with one stylist, Nikki, the current manager. I had missed and reschedule a couple of appointments during a very rough period of my life after losing my wife. I also drive 1.25 hours each way just to go to this salon. I shared this with my stylist, Nikki and even offered to pay for the missed appointments, which she declined. Instead I bought the entire salon pizza delivered one day for any inconvenience it may have caused, and I always tip her generously. Since that time, over a year ago, my life is returning to some sort of normalcy. I recently ended up in the Hospital ER with sepsis, and in critical condition. I was in the hospital the day of my appointment. With the testing, IVs, doctors coming in and out and the incredible pain, I just didn't think about my appointment. As soon as I realized it, I called to explain even though it was a few hours past my appointment. The lady I spoke to was compassionate and said not to worry, just get better. That was not the case with Nikki. I called about five days later to reschedule my appointment. The receptionist said Nikki would not accept me as a client any longer since I missed my appointment. I asked if she knew I was in the hospital, she said she would talk to Nikki and have her call me. I told her I could bring proof of my admission and discharge from the hospital. Of course Nikki never called, so I called back after a day of waiting for her call. The receptionist said Nikki still refused to cut my hair even if I was in the hospital. She said Nikki has too many customers to deal with me, basically saying it didn't matter if I was in the ER. No "hope you're feeling better" or "sorry for your painful experience" zero compassion from Nikki or the second receptionist. Of course that's not their job, but I've been a long time customer and I would think I they would have a bit more empathy. The bottom line is, they really don't give a crap how long you've been a customer, better not end up in the emergency room if you don't have a perfect appointment record. I am not including the poor haircuts, or bad dyeing. I write them off as her having a "bad day" because most the time they're good. I am so jilted by Nikki's complete lack of empathy, and the receptionist rude response that I can say I will never go back to this place again nor would I recommend it to anyone. Maybe they're not all pompous and lacking compassion, but Nikki certainly is UPDATE: Justin, you have only shown how poor of a business person you are. You're quite immature to be running any business. I have NEVER been rude to your employees in fact other replies here verify exactly what I wrote about. But I understand your going to stick up for your girls! As others have said, your business practice will catch up with you. I notice you left off the gifts I bought your employees and the healthy tips I left them, especially Nikki. I treated all of them kind but if you want to believe someone there (we both know who and it's not Nikki) you'll soon find that she will be quite damaging to the success of your business. Great atmosphere and very welcoming staff. I'd recommend that you get an appointment. They were able to squeeze me in due to a cancellation but plan ahead. The stylist was great, did a good job with my cut and they even had a private tv to watch while I was in the chair. Prices didn't seem high for a cut and a wash, so I'll go again in the future read more

Businesses have taken a financial hit it 2020 and they are still trying to work their way back in 2021. Please remember to be respectful, you never know what people are having to endure. I have always had a pleasant experience when taking my son in for his haircuts. We have had to change our appointments on occasion do to weather etc. they have always been accommodating. It's hard to find a place to trim a beard and do a hair cut but this place is hard to say yes to. First time having the gentlemen who worked right behind the cashier in the cubicle, said what I wanted to have done and argued with me on the hair cut name. Sorry but I have been getting this hair cut off and on again I know the name by heart, well that's crooked in the back and didn't notice until it grew in I noticed the beard being crooked after my first shower. Before you ask well it is kind of hard to go back when argued along with living over an hour away, I get my beard trimmer because I want some one to start kind of like a trace to keep doing it now I have to grow it back in to have my beard redone. It would have been fine if he said he messed up but trying to hide it and it off the money I spent I will look somewhere else for a hair cut and trim if he is working. read more

first time walking into the man salon on Elgin street and I must have walked in at a busy time. as a lady walks from the back area and came to the front and she says with an attitude do you have an appointment! As I say no I don't, she gets even more rude and say well we are booked all weekend!!! which I was okay with I was just going to book an appointment for next week but she then says we are busy!!!! so I just said okay we'll find somewhere else to go. Ive read good things about the man salon so I was excited for my boys to try it out but we will never go back. we ended up going to great clips around the corner and they were amazing!!!! read more

Best Hair studio in Rapid!! Other places butchered my hair and didn't listen to me when I told them specifically how my hair was. Long story short, they did what they wanted and I had to walk around with the consequences. Then one glorious day I walked into Man Salon and Aly, my hair stylist, fixed my hacked hair and got me looking like the fine specimen I am. I'm forever grateful I found this place. read more

As salons go I will let you all know the Man Salon is a bit of alright. I've been to better, but I'm particular and it's rare that I'm able to find many who are willing to handle my mess..... of hair and more. (Some background, I always ask for scissor over comb and as that's a sometimes a difficulty I tend to go to the more experienced/confident types. A I said I am particular and I tend to recognize it and I am sure that the cosmetologist is aware of it before I sit in the chair.) Anywho, onto the review. Things to keep in mind for people headed to the establishment. The wait can some times be substantial so most times I will make a reservation with someone toward the beginning of the week. This is because a walk-in wait can be extensive, but if you find yourself in this situation take advantage of the plaza and the many shops scattered down the row. Or if you have the time have a seat and sit a spell. The leather seats are comfy, and I heard that they're now serving beer. (Be aware that they also have peanuts for your consumption, but if you have an allergy it's best to stay away. #Peanuts&Dust) My cut and wash has always been average to above average and I've never walked out disappointed. Even when after I've sat in the seat and made sure things are just right with the person handling my hair. It's been a moment since I've gone to The Man Salon, but I'll make my way in and try them again. They deal with my particular ways, and they're a bit of alright. So I'll be back to the Man Salon, and it'll be decent to see how they've changed. For the good or the worst. read more

I've been coming here for years, granted only 2-3 times a year. Never had a problem before yesterday. Called last week to make an appt. for yesterday. The 1030 time worked great. Was seen on time. Asked for three inches cut off. Did he show on his fingers the amount he was going to cut? No. Just started cutting. Asked, "is this OK?" He had already cut at least 4 inches off, too late now. The right side and left are not even, at all. I have straight hair. How difficult is it to get it even? Normally, it will grow out, no problem. Had an appointment with Sarah L. on February 9th for a haircut and a shave. She did a wonderful job. Scheduled a second appointment for March 9, 2023 at 4PM. Arrived 10 minutes prior to my appointment time. I was told upon check in that she was "running a few minutes" behind schedule. Understandable, and had no issue waiting a bit. At 4:35PM, (35 minutes after my scheduled appointment) I approached the receptionist at the counter to inquire why I hadn't been called back yet. I was told that the person in my stylists chair had "requested additional services". I'm not sure how this is allowed to happen when I had scheduled a specific appointment time and was left sitting there waiting. The other client should have been told, I'm sorry I have another appointment at 4PM and do not have time for any additional services. Had I been told how long it would be when I arrived, I would not have sat there for 35 minutes waiting. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and will NEVER go back. They acted like they could care less that I was waiting so long. Also, apparently you only care about punctuality on the part of your patrons judging by the sign at the counter that says if you are more than 5 minutes late for your scheduled appointment that it will be given to someone else and you will be charged. However, it is somehow acceptable to have your clients wait for 35 minutes beyond their scheduled appointment time. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! WOULD GIVE YOU ZERO STARS IF I COULD. read more

That was one of the best hair cut experiences I think I have ever had. I spent about a half hour in the chair, but only about 10 minutes of that was for the haircut. I got my hair washed, a scalp massage, and a back/shoulder massage all for the price of a haircut. It was awesome! read more

Have been going to this location for over 4 years. Just came in for a scheduled appointment with Brooklyn and told I was checked in even though I was checked in a few minutes late 4pm scheduled got there due to Rushmore crossing traffic at 4:05. A few minutes later a woman came out to tell me that Brooklyn had cancelled my appointment and had moved to her next appointment they could try to get me in with someone else or I could reschedule. My husband and I both love getting haircuts here! I know it's supposed to be a "man" salon but they give me a better hair trim then anywhere in town! The hot towel and massage are a real treat as well. It's a little pricier than Great Clips or Fantastic Sam's, etc but well worth it! Go here, you won't be disappointed... Just Terrible. I have previously had multiple bad experiences and didn't come here for a while. Today I came back and was sadly reminded why I quit coming. Every time I come here I feel like the stylists are just rushing through haircuts as quickly as possible, with absolutely zero regard for quality. My haircut today was crooked, sloppy, with multiple areas being missed, and my beard trim only reaffirmed that I should stick to trimming it myself. My neck had literal spots of hair that she didn't seem to care that she missed, and what hair she did trim, she pushed into my shirt which left for an uncomfortable rest of the day trying to get the hair out of my wardrobe. I get that the Man Salon is selling an atmosphere, but it shouldn't come at the cost of sloppy quality on what they should really be focused on selling, a decent haircut. I don't think I have ever left this place truly satisfied with a hair cut, just occasionally with the thought of, "At least it wasn't as bad as last time." How dissapointing, I will not make the mistake of going here again. read more

I went to get my haircut today, and I have been trying to grow my hair out from a buzz cut into a comb over. I went in today to get my neck trimmed and the sides trimmed. I got it trimmed and left like any other day. After walking around for a little bit I decided that it wasn't as short on the sides as I wanted it to be. I went back into the salon and was very accommodating because I didn't want to be a burden on anyone due to my indecisiveness. When I entered and told the lady at the counter what happened, she huffed and gave me attitude while telling me that I had to wait 45 minutes. I was irked at the attitude, but I expected the wait. When I was called back, I got the same lady I saw earlier in the day. I told her the same thing that I told her earlier. I said that i was still growing my hair out and I didn't want her to touch the top, and rather that I wanted her to touch up the sides that she already cut and just make the sides shorter. With blatant disregard for my simple instructions she started by cutting the back of my hair that I told her not to touch at all. While poorly cutting my hair, she complained that since I came back that it would go in her file and would look negatively upon her. It sounded to me like she was trying to make me feel guilty that I came back because I wanted my sides a little shorter. She then didn't even offer to wash my hair like it is standard practice at the Man Salon.After butchering my hair and disregarding my simple instructions she told me that she still had to charge me, even though I previously came in. Overall my experience was very poor, both because of the employees as well as the actual haircut that I received. I will not be returning. read more
