I had a golden retriever before him, and I have never had as amazing an experience at a dog daycare, boarding, grooming, etc place as Big Valley. It is evident the staff absolutely love animals and put such care and dedication into ensuring every dog, cat, etc is not only safe, but having the bestest of times. I'm moving to the Boston area, and one of things that makes it hardest to leave Poulsbo is that Pippin is parting ways with one of his favorite places in the world. I'll forever and ever be grateful for everyone at Big Valley. I broke my leg a few summers ago and they were SO accommodating for me and Pippin, it melted my heart. Keri, Winter, Emma, Tapanga, Dayna, Nicole, Emily, Sarah, Hailey, Ava, Grace, Cal, Dylan, Megan, Keeley, Gideon, Meadow, and anyone else I missed - thank you all SO MUCH for being the best extended family for Pippin. You'll forever be part of Pippin's pack, along with all of his other furry buddies there. We love y'all, and honestly I'd recommend Big Valley Pet Resort over any other place I've been (even non pet related). They are the best, and I just hope Pippin's new place in Boston is at least almost as good :). Forever in our hearts.

First you have to bring your dog in for a daytime stay, then you have to come back for an overnight stay. And the meet and greet is good for only one year, so you have to come back and do it all over again for the same dog, which is absurd.

I usually pay for a groom while he's there so he's also always so fresh and clean. I take it as an excellent sign that he's always happy to go into the office. Boxer's regrettably are short lived, Skeeter made it to 8 just as his predecessor, Rocky. Gus, is boxer #3 and he too started here as a pup and calls this his second home! We don't travel like we used to, but the kennel's owner's and staff treat the animals like their own. I have never had to encourage anyone of our dog's into the reception area...and even though it hurts my feelings, they nearly charge into their kennel area pulling a staff member along at the end of their lead. No sentiment for us from the dogs. They pay strict attention to dietary concerns, vaccinations and will administer medications if needed. Grooming is available and done with the same care as kenneling. There's a reason this establishment is repeatedly voted Kitsap County's Best. THEY ARE!

**Will be moving the shop location in the future**…read more Bainbridge Island Dog Club is at least one of three dog shops that I discovered yesterday along Winslow Ave. while shopping and strolling. They offer grooming at another location. This location is a separate building tucked behind Magnolia and La Mercerie. But, as I was told the shop will be moving, this may change soon. At this location, they have a great selection of dog treats, clothing, leashes, harnesses, poop bags, toys and treats. They also sell owner items: cute hats with their logos, hoodies to match your dog, etc. They even have hilarious greeting cards, even for your petsitter. On the dog and people hoodies: apparently they come in many colors throughout the year and are of very good quality. Several customers have reported back to the shop that they don't pill after being in a washing machine. I had a lovely discussion with the store attendant (I got the vibe she wasn't the owner), and she was so friendly that I came back later in the day to purchase some items. (Despite posted operating hours, I came back after hours at 4:14pm on a Sunday to make this purchase. She joyfully said she tries to keep the shop open for Seattle-based or tourist clientele who are used to longer and later hours. I advise calling if you want to see if they're open past hours.)

While I understand that…read moredogs can get out and get loose, as ours did just hours after our plane left SeaTac airport, I am especially disappointed that Sophie, the business owner, did not call to inform us about it. Instead, we received several calls from 2 good Samaritans and the vet trying to contact us and providing us updates as to her situation. When I did call Sophie to discuss the situation, which happened to be 2.5 hours after the event while transferring planes in Denver, Sophie quickly tried to brush the incident aside. Rather than taking responsibility for the situation and apologizing for not contacting me herself, she just desperately tried to reassure me that it would never happen again. When I asked why she did not call me or my husband herself, she responded, "well, because I was told that the vet did that." My confidence was greatly shaken and we had our dog picked up that evening by some friends.

I was in the process of looking for a doggie day care for my very spoiled dog (she means the world to me and I do not trust just anyone with her care......I am very particular) Posh Pooch was highly recommended to me so I decided to check it out on the internet. Holy cow, when I saw the one review, I almost just closed it out....luckily, I knew of the "filters" button on the bottom left hand side of the page......if you click it you are shown more reviews. Low and behold, Posh Pooch has a Five Star rating!!! I went ahead and made an appointment to meet Sophie and tour her facility. I am glad I did.....I was so Impressed with the layout....it truly is a home away from home. Sophie is so very kind to all the little dogs in her home....she is the last person I would ever think of as unkind or uncaring of the dogs in her care. Each one is treated with respect and love. It's obvious the dogs all love her in return.....wherever she goes, they follow her (like the Pied Piper!!) After meeting with Sophie and observing her interaction with the dogs I made arrangements for her to care for my girl. I've never regretted the decision.....if my dog is out of sorts or my dog has a problem, Sophie calls me immediately. I never worry about my dog when I drop her off at Sophie's front door. I know she will be safe and happy!! I hope this review is put on the site.....instead of accepting the above mentioned review as a representation of Posh Pooch, visitors need to go into "filters" and discover what the REAL Posh Pooch is all about. When you meet Sophie you will realize what an amazing person she is and what a fine home she has made for her little dog friends.

A few days later, Aloha responded with a text message saying my request was approved, and that someone would reach out to me to schedule. Nobody did. So we took our dogs elsewhere. Today, a lovely young lady arrived in the Aloha grooming van. I felt so bad for her, having to explain that we were never notified, and that we'd already sought services elsewhere. She was so polite and apologetic. She also said, "This happens a lot." Which tells me all I need to know. To the owner: Seriously, do better! You can't just show up on a random Saturday and expect your customers to adjust to your schedule. You have to contact and CONFIRM with your customers any appointments. You could have saved yourself the cost, and your employee the embarrassment, with simple communication effort. Business is intentional, not a hobby to do casually. Figure out how to communicate better before your business ends up in the toilet. Or close down now and spare us all from the effects of your inability to provide basic customer service. Sad that I have to write this, but others need to know this happened, and happens often.
