After she went back to get this resolved they tried to strip the black out and it and turned the front of her hair ginger. The owner Vera argued that this is what my wife asked for and refused to give any money back to rectify the problem. After taking my wife to a different salon they confirmed that the quality of highlights where extremely poor, the colours they had put in her hair where completely the wrong colours and they had not grasped the basics of hairdressing. I dont know who rated Vee Jays as ££££ or very high end as although their service is great, they are not too pricey at all, and are miles better value for money than Phillips for example. When i got there, they said that they had overbooked, and would not do my hair, even though there was a hairdresser there doing nothing, as they said they had booked me in with a different hairdresser. They didn't reimburse my taxi fare, and they wouldn't book me in for another appointment for the same price they quoted me. What they did do, was try to make me pay an extra 25 pound to the junior hairdresser who was standing around. I feel that this wasn't an isolated incident, and that they tell you it will be cheap, and when you go there, they get you to pay more money than you were told originally. No stars.

She suggested one style (the way she had her own hair as it happens) and then lost interest as I was asking questions about how it would work with my type of hair. Her solution was to tell me to find pictures of what I would like and the go back! Not a chance! I left feeling utterly deflated and will not be returning.

Thankfully they did. I opted just for a dry trim. I foolishly didn't enquire about the price before I let her start on my hair but figured it wouldn't be too much. I have the student hairdresser do my hair, she was nice enough but not over chatty but that was fine with me I just want my hair cut and i'm not too bothered about small talk although I guess others like that. Anyway I was so shocked when I went to pay that she only wanted to charge £4 what a bargain. I was shocked I gave her £5 as that was such a reasonable price. Excellent value

At Renaissance Hair in Leed, I received what can only be described as five star client service! I was late for my appointment and they were so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Liz stepped in to cut my hair which was a restyle and she did a fantastic job, providing exactly what I asked for and it's a long time since I walked away from z salon with a genuine smile on my face. They are a little pricey, but I didn't mind paying as the cut, and their treatment of me was worth every penny. I will definitely be back soon. While living in Leeds, I've flitted from salon to salon on a budget, never really ending up completely happy with my haircut or hairdresser. One day after looking at Google reviews, I decided to give Renaissance a try, and boy am I glad I did! I was booked in with George, who asked me loads of questions about what I wanted, what I did and didn't like about my hair, how I style it, etc. George was really friendly, offered to get me a drink (including wine or beer - how good is that?!), and just completely made me feel at ease. I was really happy with my hair when George had finished - it looked exactly like I had in mind. I've been back several times now and been really happy each time, it finally looks like I can stop flitting from salon to salon! It wasn't expensive either, though I think it's recently increased to around £34.
