The waiters were pleasantly crazy, spoke english & french, the food was served fast & tasted great. I had mussels in garlic sauce (12€) my boyfriend a Mexican omelet (10€) both were served with home made fries, I wish I could have finished it all but it was simply too much. The atmosphere was like a pub, informal, popmusic playing, but not too loud, tv's on with football & no sound, but easy to avoid. And all the other customers seemed to be locals, kissing the waiters goodbye as they left. If I were to return to Calais, I'd go again.

Our tour choices were fish, mussels, meat (which turned out to be steak) and vegetarian (a salad) and dessert (choice of creme brûlée, lemon tart or apple tart) plus 1 drink was included in the €18 price. My party of three got the fish and then as the creme brûlée was finished by the time the waitress got to our table, we shared a lemon pie and an apple pie (the apple was the better choice). The fish I got was similar to something called "Colin or Colon" but the staff spoke only French so couldn't give me the English name equivalent. My dining companions and I were very impressed by how all our fish dishes were perfectly cooked, especially when they had so many plates to cater for! The accompanying sauce was especially lovely and my one complaint would be that my plate didn't have enough of it! Also, there is nothing worse than delicate white fish that is dried out and I am happy to say that this restaurant did not suffer from that! I also got the house white wine to drink and it was okay to accompany the fish, but not a star stand-out. Oh also the bathrooms are downstairs, but they ran out of toilet paper fairly quickly so I do wish the staff/ owners had been a little bit more thoughtful and cognizant of the fact that a party if 50 were coming, and so put out extra toilet rolls. Also same for the Creme Brûlée- running out of that choice struck a false note for everyone on our table. However the overall impression - decent place for a meal, and the fish was pretty good!
