My recent experience with an endoscopy was terrible. Other than the front desk staff, the nurses and staff were not friendly and clearly in a hurry. Very few even made eye contact, leaving me feeling like a leper. I never saw the anesthesiologist. No one explained the anesthesia process to me prior to the procedure and I didn't even meet the cRNA until I was in the OR. Her only words to me were to mock my Yankee accent. When I was rolled into that room, I felt like I was crashing a party. The staff was more concerned with one another than with their patient. I didn't see Dr. Reddy until the OR either. Following the procedure, I was told that they had taken biopsies and they would let me know when the results came in. I was patient and after three weeks decided to call thinking that was longer than I've ever waited for any test results. Eventually nearly a month following the procedure, I got a call from Dr. Reddy apologizing because he had been on vacation and somebody dropped the ball yada yada yada. The bottom line is a very disorganized poorly and not very compassionate staff left me with no confidence whatsoever in this practice.

I write this as a cautionary tale. Three years ago my GP recommended this practice to address…read morefrequent heartburn. My first appointment should have been a red flag-- the doctor did not show up and I was stuck with a well- intentioned, but rude nurse who informed me that I would need an endoscopy. The doctor who performed this ( not the doctor who didn't show up -- I never heard his name mentioned again) was professional and did a great job of informing me after the procedure. But I then became a part of their system that points to money making and NOT patient care. It took 3 weeks and persistence to get final results and then I was told the doc who performed the endoscopy was booked for the next 4 months, but his nurse could see me. She was sweet but I later found out she had just received her advanced degree in Family Practice several days before joining the practice. She was not that informative, simply handing me a sheet of paper listing the GERD diet ( potatoes, white rice, cereal!!!). She had me on medication way too long and when I tried to see a doctor I kept getting the same issue that the doctor was booked up for several months. I was ok for a short while but when I started having a reaction to the medication she insisted I continue taking it. I went off it cold turkey and became much worse. She even told me to take strong medicine over the counter that caused even worse symptoms. I went to another doctor who had me go through more tests because I was so sick ( and lost considerable weight). I eventually ended up at Emory and the doctor there quickly diagnosed what had happened triggered by the medication. BTW, that nurse is no longer at the Gainesville practice. They have the nurse s treat you and seeing a doc tajes a long tine-- meanwhile you could be getting worse. I would recommend another practice.

From check-in with Ms. Maddie to check-out, the entire staff was courteous, efficient, and attentive to my needs. The facility was clean and well-organized. I especially appreciated how the nurses and assistants helped put me at ease, which was important given how stressful GI procedures can be. Dr. Stephen Beasley took the time to listen to my concerns, reassured me that all would be well, explained the process clearly, and answered all my questions without making me feel rushed. His calm and compassionate manner was very comforting. Special thanks to: Vito, the anesthesia nurse Candice, my pre-op nurse Ms. D, the PACU nurse (I may not recall her full name, but I won't forget her patience) Jayla, the endoscope technician The procedure went smoothly, and I felt well cared for every step of the way. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone in need of GI care. They're thorough, respectful, and truly put the patient first.

EMS because we were taken to an ER at a facility we had not had good experiences with. Spent 4 days in the hospital the week before Christmas!!! Two years later after multiple requests to escalate our case, the office staff FINALLY agreed to pay the outstanding balance of about $650. This is what malpractice insurance is for. What should have been a simple procedure and a simple resolution to an unpaid balance issue was continuously delayed time after time with unreturned phones and ignored emails. TWO YEARS, people!! Totally inexcusable! Medically speaking, this is hands down the worst experience of my entire old age life. I will absolutely NEVER again darken the doors of SGA!!!

I would not recommend this practice. I was discharged from the hospital after a 3-night stay,…read morediagnosed with severe UC. During checkout, there was no discussion on what to expect on the road ahead. nor was any followup (and by when) discussed. The night after discharge, I had concerns and called the office 3-minutes after opening. I was connected with "clinical support" and left a detailed message. It turns those persons are working remotely. So, I called back about 1PM after hearing nothing. My first call got dropped; wasn't called back, and had to call in again. This time I was told to go the ER, which I did. Going back in history, I started having digestive issues in May 2025. I made an appointment with the firm, and was told based on a 2024 colonoscopy, I had hemorrhoids and to start taking fiber, which was no help, so I got with my primary care physician, who did several tests, prescribed medication for IBS, and over the course of a few months got better. So, my initial concerns were "blown off" by Atlanta Gastro. My primary care physician ruled out celiac disease and Chrone's, but indicated UC could only be diagnosed with a colonoscopy. But his diet recommendations and prescribed medications to treat IBS worked over time, and had successful quarterly visits with my primary care physician. Early this year, following a trip abroad, I began having worsening digestive issues and during the routine visit found I was borderline anemic. suspecting internal GI bleeding, myprimary care physician referred me back to Atlanta Gastrointestinal. I had an initial visit in early March, and was scheduled for full GI testing in mid-April, plus other routine tests. I had calls get dropped 3 times in relation to the prescribed lab tests. In no instance was the dropped call returned; rather, I had to phone in and leave another message. Before I could have the scheduled endoscopy / colonoscopy as an out-patient, my condition worsened, and was admitted to the hospital. I called in to Atlanta Gastro to inform them that I was headed to the ER and they followed my case, starting from ER tests. They had brief visits with me during the 2-days after procedure, but no follow-up from them in the discharge orders. in fact, I still had to call the office to cancel my outpatient tests else I would have been charged for a no-show. You can make appointments via their web site, but can't cancel; you have to talk to a real person. I should not have had to call to cancel anyway as they were aware of my condition and supposedly following the case. So, in my case, terrible customer (patient) service, multiple dropped calls, and no follow up checking on my condition. Communication with and within this office obvious is poor. I felt like being treated like a number vice a patient. I am unhappy, and going forward taking my GI care elsewhere!

I had to wait another 2+ months to get another appointment and when I arrived they said I needed a referal. No one ever said anything about needing a referal when I confirmed my appointment days before when I confirmed by phone. On top of that, when I arrived at the office for my scheduled appointment, the girl I spoke with was rude about not having the referal which I knew nothing about and said you can't be seen. The doctors may be great, but contending with the front office at the Northside location is infuriating!
