Great selection of alcohol, but the staff are very very weird about watching your every move. I'm 25, and I do look young but not THAT young. I was buying some liquor with my friend and I went to check out before my friend and they needed his ID before they could ring me out. Okay fair, but my friend was still choosing his alcohol so I had to wait for him to finish before I could check out. The entire time I was waiting, the female staff with glasses just stared at me the whole time, and she wasn't even my cashier. She made me feel so uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Eventually my friend came over and we both got our stuff and left. But I've been here a few times and the staff are always just passing by and staring at you. read more

For this area, this place is as good as it gets. Friendly staff, HUGE selection and one of the very few places in the Lowell area with CIGARS! They have a huge 7-foot-tall humidor with a fantastic variety of cigars, ranging from cheap-o's to 19.99 Cohibas. Some brands they carry include: Macanudo, Ashton, Romeo y Julieta (my fave), Acid (2nd fave), Padron, Punch, Davidoff and about a dozen other brands. I almost cried tears of joy when I saw this humidor, because I'd previously been going to NH or Cambridge for cigars before. Joy! Yes the prices may indeed be a couple bucks higher, but for the assistance, the selection and the fact that they have cigars, it's well worth driving a minute or two more and paying a couple extra bucks to go here. Highly recommended if you life anywhere in or around Lowell. They also carry several beers that there's no way you'll find anywhere else around this area, so if you're beyond Coors, Miller and Bud, give em a try. And grab a cigar while you're there: the last one I had still had a nice, soft cap which lovingly accepted my cigar punch and let me smoke it down to a nub during a round of golf over at Trull Brook (see review). This is a great package store. It's very conveniently located. The store itself looks fairly new is very me and clean. Something not many package stores in the area can claim. Selection of beer is pretty good as well read more

The Liquor Shop is a hidden gem, both here and in Tyngsboro. The Wine Manager [or maybe he's the store manager] seems very nice and accommodating. He even ordered some wine especially for me. They have a lot of non-traditional value wines, which I love. They are non-abrasive and have decent prices. If they were slightly cheaper, they'd get my 5-star rating. Maybe the new tax decrease will help these liquor shop owners. read more

This is certainly one of the bigger liquor stores in the area. The selection is far better than any corner bodega in town, whether you're looking for beer, wine, or something a little harder. On selection alone, I would give this place four stars, but examination of the price points leads me to believe that they might be a tad on the expensive side. For example, I've gotten a 1.75 L of Ketel One vodka for $34.99 elsewhere and here it was $40.99. read more

If you are looking for good beer, this is the place to go. They have a huge selection of domestic microbrews and imports. Staff is great too. They offered to try to get me a beer they didn't carry, unfortunately it's not available in MA, but I really appreciate that kind of service. Lots of wine here too. I'm not a big wine drinker but when I'm having people over or going to someones house for dinner and need a bottle of wine, they have always made good recommendations; and they don't push the most expensive bottles on you either. read more

They have the best craft beer selection around. They also have cigars and a huge liquor selection. I got a handle of captain Morgan's for just 23.99!!! They have fine wines and all the cheapos too. The staff can find the right wine for the right occasion. I was looking for a rare bourbon that they didn't have but they specialty ordered it and I had it in 3 days. Very impressed. read more

I used to frequent the Liquor Shop in Tyngsboro before it closed down but have never been to the Lowell store. I decided to check them out since MA has a wider selection of craft beer than NH does. The selection seems on par with other stores in MA, although the prices do seem a bit higher. What makes me give this store a low rating is the fact they do not allow you to break up 6 packs of craft beer. The Tyngsboro store never had an issue with this and I don't know of any other craft beer store that doesn't allow it either. When I make a trip to a craft beer store, I tend to pick up a wide variety of things that I like or want to try. I don't want to try a 6 pack of beer for $11-$12 to find out that I don't like it. When I mentioned to the clerk that most craft beer stores allow you to break up packs, she rudely stated, "Well, I don't own the store". I mainly wanted her to know my disappointment and maybe she would pass it on the the owner/manager. I easily spend upwards of $100 on trips like this, but walked out of there only spending $10 because they had wine coolers my wife likes and can't get around us. It will be the last $10 of mine they see. read more

Nice, clean store. It looks like their expansion will be a great addition to the location. Can't believe they had Night Shift Beer. I've had a hard time finding it. This store always has a pretty good selection of craft beer. Joe was friendly and helpful as always. I'm glad that there is a nice liquor store next to Market Basket because it makes it easier to go to after or before grocery shopping. I will continue to shop there! read more
