Been for food and drinks. The Lighthouse, or "Lighty" is the go-to spot for the University of Canberra kids and there are often nights dedicated to events for said kids. I've been on some of these nights, then on some regular days as well. On a regular night the place isn't too busy, a good spot to chill and chat with some friends, but on the nights when an event is going on: beware. It's crowded, noisy and quite messy. Not really my thing.
For the past month or so my girlfriend's and I have been to Lighty's at least twice a week for their potato wedges. So. Freaking. Good. Their crispy and seasoned, and come with a spectacular sweet chilli and sour cream dipping sauce. Ugh, I'm drooling just thinking about it. For less than $10 the wedges are a steal and the serving size is big enough to satisfy three people.
Aside from their fries I've also tried their garlic pizza bread (the name is pretty self-explanatory, it looks like a pizza but tastes like garlic bread), their beef nachos (tasty as hell and also a huge serving) and the buffalo wings (average at best, we didn't try to finish them). I still need to try their chicken parm, because every time someone else orders it I always die a bit inside from how delicious it looks.
If you're looking for a spot to chill, chat and eat with some mates this is a great spot to go to, just try to avoid busy nights. read more
