Very tasty and portion size is decent. Not drenched in oil like some other Turkish restaurants.

I live around the corner from the place so I was a little surprised to find a new restaurant opened…read morewithout the usual advertisement prior to opening night. I went for a little walk to find out more about this place - it appears to be a cafe by day and a Malaysian restaurant by night (and for lunch). Unusual indeed! What the heck, I thought, may as well try it and support the local businesses. A friend and I called the mobile numbers listed on the window to make a reservation. On the night, I have to say I had some reservations... there were no customers inside the restaurant at all. Compared to its neighbouring restaurant, Thai Herb which was quite packed, this place looked far from inviting; but we had already booked and why not try something new? Thank goodness we went! Not only because it would have been extremely rude not to turn up, but it was a very pleasant meal! We had some spring rolls for entree, they weren't the best spring rolls I've had but it's pretty hard to go wrong with them so no complaints there. The real exciting dish was their Beef Rendang - definitely one of the better Rendangs I've had in Canberra and their Sambal proved to be quite tasty as well! The service was friendly, if a little awkward. It could have been the owner who served us (the cafe/restaurant, I believe, is owned by the same people as the antiques store next door) and I have a feeling she new to this whole waiting business. It was more endearing than anything else really though. I explained to her that I had not heard anything about the place, and it was only by chance that I noticed it when I was driving down that road. I definitely hope more people hear about it and visit it - a real local gem! We were surprised by the total of the bill - it turns out they are having a May (2012) special - so head in quickly for a rather tasty, authentic, but affordable Malaysian meal :)
