How dare The Learning Experience contact Child Protective Services (CPS) in an effort to cover their tracks after my wife questioned them about a bruise on our toddler's face, a bruise that was not present when we dropped her off. We understand that toddlers can get bumps and bruises from regular play. But what's unacceptable is the lack of accountability from the staff and the cowardly decision to pass the blame onto parents instead of being transparent. Having CPS show up at our home, suspicious of us as parents was humiliating, distressing, and completely unjustified. Even worse, CPS did not have anything to report, confirming there was no credible concern or evidence behind the daycare's accusation, but now we're in the "system". My wife shares many of the same concerns echoed in other negative reviews. The staff at this location appeared disinterested and undertrained, complaining, disengaged, and clearly "just there for a check." Nearly every time we picked up our daughter, there was a different teacher in the room, and no one seemed to know what had gone on during the day. Communication was chaotic and unprofessional. It often felt like they hired people off the street with zero preparation. We observed several children with crusted snot on their faces, and even our daughter often looked like she'd been "through a storm" by pickup time. These are not isolated impressions, but they reflect a clear pattern of poor management and inadequate care. And filing a formal complaint with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), in still under consideration contingent on statute of limitations. However, we encourage other parents with similar experiences to do the same and NOT let this walk. Sure, positive reviews are plentiful. But I strongly urge any parent reading this to also take the one-star reviews seriously. If you value professionalism, accountability, and compassion in a childcare setting, this is not the place. read more

We have loved our time at TLE in Simi Valley. Our two boys started there in 2021 and the staff and in-class teachers provided our boys with a safe and stable place to be, while learning good manners and how to interact with other kids. The staff at TLE are what make this place so special. Our boys come home talking about the lessons they've learned throughout their day and all of the fun times they had with their friends and teachers. I thought this was a great place initially with the presentation of how clean the keep it and how updated you would be on their app about your child's day. After a year it was clear the app was rarely updated or accurate, there was high staff turn over from teachers up to the facility director. Clothing items often lost due to frequent shuffling of children between classes and many substitute teachers. There seemed to be little continuity for the kids. My little guy started at the Learning Experience back in April of this year, and is under two. He has learned so much there, it's been amazing for us to see! I was a little worried about sending him to school so young, as he started at 18 months, but the development we've seen in his language and social skills over the last few months makes me feel that we've done a great thing for him in sending him to TLE. In addition to learning quite a few new ASL signs, and a fair amount of verbal language, our son has also come home knowing a little dance routine to the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. This is as adorable as it sounds! He asks me to sing the song so he can dance to it as least once a day! When I was first looking at the school, it seemed like the reviews online were mixed, and that parents had a few valid concerns... as you can imagine, this contributed to my overall nervousness about going back to work and leaving my kiddo at school. Two things I saw in reviews were concerns about how clean the school was, and kids being sent home with unreported injuries. It was also obvious to me, in reading a few reviews, that there's been a fairly recent management change, and of course being a Yelper for what's now most of my adult life, I realize online reviews are very subjective.... so I took a mental note of these concerns and kept my eyes peeled. As far as how clean the school is, I can tell you without any reservations, it is absolutely cleaner than my house. I've seen cleaning crews in there, with buckets of bleach, frequently. Much more frequently than I have cleaned my own floors, or bleached my bathroom. It is clean enough that my kid didn't get Hand, Foot & Mouth disease this summer, for what that's worth. As far as unreported injuries go, I haven't had this issue. When my little monkey scratches himself, falls down, etc, they call me. The first couple of times, I was super concerned and then frankly a little confused, as they reported to me a mundane injury that is the sort of thing which happens to him regularly around the house. Regardless, it's nice to know they're paying attention and looking out for him. Honestly, it's possible that his teachers can't help but pay attention to him, as my son regularly says his teachers names at home! He knows how to get their attention, and it helps ease my mind to know they've made it into his lexicon, along with me (mama), dada, Gigi, Nana (who is actually the dog) and Dan (Daniel Tiger). Recently Moved to Simi but while we moved we kept checking for places to take my Daughter and Niece. found this place and loved what they had to offer, took the girls on a tour and they were dying to go there. Finally they were able to attend and at first my daughter had a few rough days (adjusting was hard) but when she met her actual Teacher Mrs.Rosie she was beyond happy, she has a few rough days doesnt want me to leave which I understand, But Samantha, Mrs. Rosie, Mrs.Evangeline have been Amazing to my daughter they make her feel comfortable and happy. I get notifications with updates and pictures and I see how much fun she's having and when I pick her up she tells me everything that they did in school and the friends she's made so far, sometimes asks to stay a little longer to keep playing. they do have different TA's but all of them have been wonderful, Jacky has been a huge help as well. I know im missing more wonderful teachers. all i have to say is that im so happy i made the right choice, my daughter has been talking so much more now and has learned sign language as well which is amazing. read more

My first impression of this place was that it was clean, and looked fun for my 2 year old. I was in the process of choosing between two day care facilities and their offer to have my little one "try it out" for a day made me choose them. After about two months with them, several "little" things started occurring on different days. On one day, my toddler came home with dirty face and hands and apparently ate her meals like this since they went outside before meal time. When I called and asked why, the lady said she must have slipped under the radar. Another day, my baby's shoes were not put on properly by the staff and she was practically limping/tiptoeing when I picked her up. I called and they said they didn't realize it. Another day, baby's diaper was pulled up into a wedgie and her onesie was not buttoned up and left hanging outside her pants. I called and they said they'd be more careful. My child was injured on the neck by another child and I was not called about it until grandma came to pick her up. Grandma asked staff why no one called me and I was told they didn't have to. I have this written down on paper as proof. I was furious so I called and demanded that next time something happened to my child even if it was a small incident to CALL me. They said they would. At this point I put in for a 2 week notice to withdraw my child. Grandma went to go pick up my toddler and after she got into the facility was met with a locked door to the actual twaddler room. She could see the children and kept knocking and knocking and was blatantly ignored so she went to the front to grab Sonia who was helpful and she unlocked the door to get my little one. The ladies in the room said they couldn't hear the knocking which we will never know if that is true or not but the door should NEVER have been locked according to facility rules. That moment did it for me and I pulled my toddler out that day despite the previous two week notice. Safety concerns are important to me! I also wanted to add that me and my husband would call the facility several times on different days where no one would answer or even call back. That really set me on edge especially if I had an emergency or needed to talk to someone about my toddler! I came in person after taking off work and told Sonia I'd be leaving that day for all the reasons listed. She confided that they indeed needed work and that they were holding meetings to fix things but I didn't want to put my child there while they "practiced". I told them to charge me for the day to make it fair/even and that we were all paid up. I was told the owner Sunni had to call and he never did so I called back and found that he called a different number-also not reassuring given if it was an actual emergency and he's not calling my LISTED number. The owner had the nerve to charge me almost double for the day she went claiming he had every right to charge more. I firmly told him there were safety concerns! He also insisted I had a balance left over. I am very careful about paying on time and I guaranteed that there was an error in the books so I sent all my receipts over. He made a mistake. He still wouldn't refund until I said that I wouldn't be recommending the place and he changed his tone and said if it made me happy he'd refund me. I told him he wasn't doing me a favor by returning money I never agreed to him charging. Either way, I left with a bad feeling and wanted to share my experience--also to give parents an update on what's going on currently at that facility. read more

My son started in the toddler class 4 months ago and we couldn't be happier. Over that time he has learned sign language and how to eat independently with a spoon and fork. His teachers are great and give us verbal and written updates of everything that they did throughout the day including diaper changes, activities, napping, and eating. We're also impressed that all the teachers, even the ones that are not his own, know his name and say hi when we're walking through the halls. It feels like a family and that's why I trust them with my son. I should also mention that the first month or so my son attended it took him awhile to adjust. He would always cry when I dropped him off, but his teachers made sure to give him some extra attention at those times and soon enough his separation anxiety diminished. Now he loves going there and even sometimes gets upset at the end of the day when we have to go home. On a final note. The staff and teachers were really great with paying close attention to my son's special needs. When he first started he had a bad dairy allergy and they made very certain that he didn't get any dairy and made special meals for him. That really meant a lot and showed that they took special care for my son when needed. Overall I can't recommend this place enough. In the beginning it was very difficult for her to adjust as she was in that phase where she had stranger anxiety but we did not give up. My baby son has been going to TLE almost 10 months now. He started going at 5 months old. They're so small at that age, and you really want them to get the care that you would be giving them at home. I chose TLE experience for a lot of reasons: - They keep the children grouped together based on development. Once my son started to crawl and was more active, he was moved to a larger room with other kids that were similar to his development. - The facility is always spotless and clean. - I actually like that this is a corporate run facility. That means they have rules and standards that they have to follow. I can count on all the caregivers doing the same thing, no matter what room my child goes into. Being corporate also means that the caregivers are all background checked. No one comes in that facility unless they are supposed to be. So I feel like my baby is very safe. - They have closed circuit cameras in all the rooms that can be viewed in the director's office at any time. I have glanced at other reviews, and I was actually shocked to read the negatives reviews that talked about the owner, Mona. I LOVE it when Mona is at the facility. She's so happy and cheerful and such a joy to be around. She is very involved, as I would expect any owner to be. But what I love is that she is in the rooms helping to take care of the children. My son absolutely adores her. He lights up whenever he sees her and will go to her for hugs. Even over his own teachers (whom he and I both love), she is clearly his favorite person at the facility. Everyone is going to have different opinions, and I don't get involved with facility gossip or politics. What matters to me is how my child is treated. My baby is happy and excited to be there with his friends and his caregivers. I am able to be at work with peace of mind that my baby boy is loved and well taken care of while I'm gone. It saddens my heart to have to write this but I know that parents need the help of reviews to help them select a good childcare, so I've decided to leave a review. TLE use to be a GREAT childcare. The teachers were amazing, the classrooms were clean, there was a great curriculum in place, there was stability with teachers and staff, and the management was excellent. However, the ownership has changed twice in the recent months and the childcare has completely gone downhill. It's getting worse and worse daily. The turnover for staff and teachers there is outrageous! My son had a new teacher every week, and the Director never informs anyone of changes (as the previous management did). On a regular basis my husband and I would arrive to pick up our child only to find him with a stranger who we had never met before. The new owners do not hire quality teachers, instead they throw random people in the classrooms who do not have academic credentialed backgrounds to teach. Their caretaking and teaching skills honestly seemed like they were randomly found off Craigslist or something. The new staff and teachers are extremely negligent! My child was constantly being sent home with a dirty runny nose and dirty clothes. His underwear and other personal belongings were constantly being mixed up with other kids' and/or lost due to negligence of the staff. My child was constantly getting hurt as well from negligence of the staff. He ended up having to get stitches on his head from a horrible injury which is what made us decide that it was time to pull him out. The rooms are never clean anymore, and they smell horrible. My son was there for 2 years before the ownership changed so we were extremely saddened when we had to make the decision to pull him out of this childcare. I do, however thank Mrs. Amy who is literally one of the only old staff members left who continues to try do a good job with the kids amongst all the chaos that has come with the multiple ownership transitions. My almost 4 year old daughter has been attending TLE for about 9 months. She is in the preK 2 class. The teacher, Ms Katie, has been so amazing. She is very consistent with her way of teachings. My daughter comes home excited to share the things she has learned, from new songs, big words, writing letters and life lessons (sharing is caring :-) ) they are always doing crafts and enrichment activities. Never a dull moment in her class. Ms Katie is very good at preparing the kids in her class for kindergarten. Not only the reading, writing and other learnings, but also with her classroom etiquette. She knows what kindergarten will be like for our little ones and with her guidance I have no doubt they will be able to make an easy transition. They will be staring their summer program at the end of the month and from what I can see on the calendar it's going to be a lot of fun for the kids. The loving care and playful environment made a world of difference. The staff at Little Becomers has been the staff for many many years. The staff at TLE work on a revolving door. That says a lot to me. I also see my second child coming out of preschool with a more caring demeanor. He is equally prepared for kindergarten as my first a child was, but did so in a more loving environment. Another problem I had with TLE was the owner. He was fairly new by the time my daughter stopped attending there. Not too sure if he's still the owner, but if the owner is a man named Sunny I would for sure recommend anyone's child not attend there. He didn't seem to have any experience in running a child care or preschool place. I heard him say some inappropriate things to children that were geared towards children being afraid of their parents and doctors. Not something any child should be afraid of. Kids are only little for a short period of time. Once kindergarten starts they are really forced to start growing up quickly. Let them learn through play and surrounded by genuine love. Well this place has really gone down hill. I'm not sure if it is just that they have better staff in their toddler (under 2 years) room than in their program for above 2 years, or if it's the new ownership, or the new management, but we had to pull our son out. He was now in their over two years program. My wife went to pick him up early one day recently and his room was in complete disarray: about 20 kids to 2 teachers; he was in a dirty diaper that it was clear he'd been in way too long. Then, when my wife went in the bathroom with one of the teachers in order to change him, she overheard one of the teachers yelling at a little kid. She peered her head out to see the teacher grabbing the child by the shoulders and shaking him, in his face, yelling at him to keep his shoes on (apparently this child has a problem with removing them). When my wife got home she called the director to report this and the director didn't seem to take it seriously at all. Shouldn't there be a zero tolerance policy for any physical abuse? I would think so. I'm sure that little boy's parents wouldn't feel good knowing that he was being treated that way. Well, we had a good experience when our son was in the toddler program but it was the complete opposite situation for their over two years old program. Finally, regarding the response by TLE to my review, as well as to all the other negative ones, where they state that someone from their team will be contacting me personally; nobody has ever contacted me. My children started attending The Learning Experience 2 years ago. When my boys started my youngest was only 5 months old and was diagnosed with asthma. As you know as a parent, trusting someone to look out for the well being of the most important people in your life is completely terrifying. They gave my son his breathing treatments, and called me to inform me throughout the day how well they were both doing. This last Wednesday was my children's last day, due to our family relocating to another state. There was many tears shared between the teachers and our family. I love The Learning Experience, and if there was a way to take this school and teachers with me I would. The teachers there have a heart of gold. My oldest has went from twaddlers all the way to PS2 (preschool) and the way that he has grown as a person is outstanding.
