Don't focus on the address. These folks provide top-notch tutors and support along the entire Connecticut shoreline! I've been using The Learning Consultants to assist my daughter prepare for a 2nd try at the MCAT exam. She lives in New Haven. The first time around, she used the tried and true (and expensive) Stanley Kaplan course, including the options for online classes and reviews. There was very little 'personal touch', and while their material is solid, the instructors can be inconsistent. After searching around the New Haven area, many of the tutoring programs did not go up to MCAT level preparation. The services that would try to identify tutors ultimately were not successful. That was when I literally 'stumbled upon' the Learning Consultants. After filling out an online inquiry, I was contacted within a day by the head of the organization, Daryl C. He paid close attention to what I was seeking, and informed me that he had a great tutor right in New Haven, and he himself was also available about a half-hour's drive away. My daughter met with this tutor, and they hit it off immediately. The guy knows his stuff, and complements my daughter's weak areas--great matching, and great tutoring! I authorized weekly sessions, and they have been meeting consistently. I want to note that it was actually me who requested the weekly sessions. Daryl was completely flexible and initially offered an option to meet just once for a 'tune up session'. Very different than the groups that try to push 'package deals. The tutoring has been completely individualized to my daughter's needs, and the tutor has been top notch and completely reliable. if you are looking for a responsive, competent tutoring service from middle / high school through college to graduate school preparation, this is truly the group for you. I can assure you that you will be more than happy! One last comment: About 6 weeks in, I got an email explaining that my credit card authorization was faulty. My daughter Sarah was having a very hard time with physics in high school. Despite asking for extra help from the teacher and availing herself of various student tutors, the subject remained dauntingly difficult for her. I spoke with Daryl Capuano of Learning Consultants, and they provided us with the miraculous Dr. Dan Hartman, who is not only an actual M.D. but a physics genius as well. He and Sarah would review recent lessons and homework assignments, and Dan would explain things in such a way that what was previously murky and confusing became crystal clear and comprehensible, and Sarah went on to succeed in physics. I genuinely feel that her time with Dr. Dan played a huge role in her academic success since then. Discovering that she could solve impenetrable problems (the real and lasting lesson he taught her) is a powerful weapon in her academic arsenal, and I shall be forever grateful to Dan Hartman and to Learning Consultants for that. I highly and emphatically recommend Learning Consultants to anyone who is having trouble in any subject. They have an uncanny ability to provide exactly the right tutor for your needs. Following my granddaughter's stressful sophomore year, she began seeing Jean Card of The Learning Consultants Group for weekly private tutoring sessions. Jean worked with my granddaughter to help her manage anxiety related to academic performance by learning new ways to approach study assignments and prepare for tests which, in turn, has increased her command of and mastery over classroom work. We are so pleased that we will continue one on one academic tutoring for SAT/ACT prep, as well as college counseling to help narrow the field produced by online college selection criteria, based on what's important to my granddaughter. It's a few months now since we started using Jesse Brockwell and I think it's worth an update. Jesse has been a great support to me as a parent as my son enters his Junior Year, both in terms of understanding where he is at, what are teething problems and what needs to be addressed and also helping my son and I plan for the year ahead.
