John promised to begin within 2-3 weeks and said the project would take about a week to complete. He presented a "design" -- just a few pencil lines on paper -- and asked for 75% of the total cost upfront, claiming it was needed for materials. After receiving the money, he stopped responding consistently. For nearly three months, he kept promising to start "tomorrow" or "next week," but rarely showed up. Eventually, he sent one worker for only a day or two, who did very poor work -- simply threw some gravel around and left. John then lied about parts of the project we had agreed upon and again demanded more payment before completing anything. When we refused to pay until the job was done, he disappeared, saying he needed to "order more materials," and never came back. We have been considering legal action and consulting with a lawyer regarding this situation. It is clear that this company takes people's money and does not complete the work. I'm sharing our experience to warn others -- please be extremely cautious before hiring Natural Landscapes and Designs or John Martinez.

I hired them to build an extended paver patio with a sitting wall and fire pit. I was promised a one-week job that ended up dragging on for nearly six months. MISLEADING QUOTES AND HIDDEN COSTS: The final cost of my project ended up being 40% higher than the original estimate--an intentional tactic Luis seems to use to win jobs with low bids, only to inflate costs later. He also charged me for materials by the pallet, even though almost half weren't used, allowing him to reuse leftovers on other jobs and double his profit at my expense. HORRENDOUS PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Luis tore up my yard before even securing the pavers, citing "supply yard delays." Meanwhile, my backyard was left unusable for over a month, and his team destroyed my sprinkler system. They also left trash scattered everywhere. When the materials finally arrived, he held up the project by insisting on "progress payments" for work that was nowhere near complete. Every milestone within the project was started and left half completed for weeks at a time. ENDLESS DELAYS & EXCUSES: From blaming supply yard delays to claiming "emergencies" or "truck breakdowns," there was always a reason why progress stalled. Luis constantly blamed supply yards for messing up my order THREE separate times. In reality, the delays were because he failed to place orders on time and didn't have the funds to pay for materials. I had to call the supply yard myself and pay for supplies upfront just to keep the project moving forward. On top of that, he would threaten to stop work unless I paid the full labor cost for any change orders upfront after paying for supplies. Given his track record of leaving each milestone partially finished, we eventually agreed that I would pay half the labor cost upfront and the remainder upon completion, but even this arrangement was riddled with delays and excuses. INCOMPLETE WORK: After months of back-and-forth, the project is still unfinished. The lighting kit for the sitting wall was never installed, and Luis offered a measly $200 deduction, which doesn't even begin to cover the cost. He consistently told me, "I could have just left and not finished anything" as if he did me a favor by coming back to the project...this is a clear indicator that he has done this before. In summary, my backyard was left a mess, and the quality of work was subpar (photos attached). Luis Hernandez is very frustrating to work with and lacks the ability to properly manage a project. I'm currently working with my lawyer and planning to file claims with the Arkansas Attorney General, Small Claims Court, and Better Business Bureau. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs. You have been warned, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
