Cons: If there is one word to describe PMR's management of Lakewood West, it is negligent. Shared spaces, including the hallways, parking lots, entryways, laundry rooms, and grassy areas are filthy. People do not pick up after their dogs, leaving large piles of feces along the sidewalks. Maintenance will drag furniture/old refrigerators to the dumpsters and leave them on the ground beside it. The hallways wreak of weed, and occasionally trash if someone leaves trash outside their door. Along with the lack of cleanliness in shared spaces, there is also no maintaining the smoke detectors which have been dying for two months. Sidewalks are in disrepair, and when it rains the mud from the hill near the laundry room makes for a dangerous slip-and-slide on the sidewalk. The air conditioners are not maintained, and it sounds like a lawn mower kicking on right outside your window while you're trying to sleep. The apartments are seldom sprayed for bugs, meaning the apartments are home to many pests being in a wooded area, including centipedes, brown recluses, large crickets, and camel crickets. When the bugs die in the hallways, they are just left there.
The laundry rooms are one of the filthiest spots--dirty machines, dirty floors, no upkeep whatsoever. The coin slots to the machines come out/get stuck so the machines cannot be used, which is ignored by management/maintenance, even when they are aware of the problem. When you lose your coins in the machines, you do not get your money back. Instead of maintaining the soda machine in the laundry room, a sign was just placed on it saying, "Out of Order," which has stayed that way for over a year.
The lawn care service hired, Super Cutz, blows grass clippings all over everyone's porch and cars in the parking lot. They don't always blow it off, but when they do the workers walk right up on your porch and look in your apartment. When trimming bushes, the person on the lawn mower would just run over the sticks with the lawn mower instead of picking them up, which were then blown on everyone's cars in the parking lot.
Maintenance requests go ignored for weeks, and phone calls to the office about maintenance are ignored; the doors to the office are now kept locked. Prior to the management change, the air filters in everyone's furnace were changed every three months. This stopped with no warning once PMR took over. Many residents here are elderly or college-age, and the accumulation of dust on the filters is a fire hazard. The only way management communicates with residents is through an app, so the older and elderly residents and those without the app do not receive important messages.
Along with the rise in filth comes a rise in rent. Our rent went up $130 dollars with management change, along with mystery charges that cannot be accounted for by staff. The only amenity at Lakewood West is the swimming pool, which was only open for about a month this past summer.
The road leading into the apartment complex is riddled with potholes. I have personally had not one, but two flat tires over the course of a year while living here. One was from the grate at the end of the steep hill by the office.
If you like being inconvenienced, management/maintenance/upkeep that is completely absent, dog poop, and having to take your laundry elsewhere, then Lakewood West is for you.
