As a bar I wasn't really all that impressed, namely that the beer selection really wasn't all that great. In a way it was one of those pubs, or bars, that seemed to serve beers from the main breweries. Oh, and the service wasn't too great either, but still, it wasn't too bad.

Upon arriving with a decent sized group, we made our way upstairs to get to the balcony and escape the smell of industrial cleaners inside. At least you know it is clean. The barman handled the disarray of three generations of one family's indecision all trying to figure out how to deal with ordering drinks and pay at the same time like a pro. I think he may get this a lot. Highlights included: no lock on the cubicle of the upstairs men's toilet; a great game of footy on TV; and one of my aunt's ordering two margaritas thinking pizzas would arrive and being presented instead with undesired beverages; another aunt necking undesired margaritas; and, respectable coffees. The hot chips were damn good, the sharing plate took an inordinately long time to prepare but was devoured once it arrived, and the proximity to the railway station/tracks makes this a good venue for trainspotters.

It may be in the middle of nowhere, but it's a bloody good pub!…read more Radio Springs is the most fantastic and weird mix of a tiny little local, constantly buzzing with the inhabitants of Lyonville, and quite a fancy restaurant, offering some pretty delicious (though not super cheap) dinner options. I had the steak with garlic sauce which was pretty damn drool worthy. The chips & vegies on the side were great too. Radio Springs is a little bit like visiting someone's house- you can sit on the open verandah area and have a beer if the weather is nice, feast on dinner around the fireplace with a live band in the background if that's what suits, or head around to the red room at the back, where you'll feel transported to a different era in the rather elegant and dimly lit dining room. This one is worth a visit for the overall experience. Don't expect a regular restaurant as this place is in a world of it's own, but I'm not complaining!

The music is ragtime and 1940s things and the bartender is nowhere to be seen. It's only when the song had finished and one of hem stands up and walks round the other side of the counter that it sinks in. This is pub full if the most intimate of locals, locals from all around. By luck we were shown to an upstairs lounge room in a small warm and cosy atmosphere with views looking over Daylesford through a glass door and balcony, sadly it was to cold to go outside but the open fire kept us warm as did the hospitality of the wait staff. The food continues to be incredible with amazing wood fired pizza coupled with an amazing balance for the pastas that we ate as well.
