Scones here are huge and one was more than enough for my whole lunch. I couldn't even finish the whole thing. And it was really really good. They were mopping the floor upstairs to get ready to close at 5 and the place smelled like old mop water, but the girl let me open the side door right next to my table and then it was good. My only gripe was the brownie, it was too dense and moist, more like a biscuit cake - almost like it was uncooked? Brownies are so varied though, so this just wasn't to my taste. The friendly young waitress chatted to us and offered us a homemade biscotti, I was hesitant, as I don't like the prepacked version, but this was divine! I only wish I'd bought some on the way out, as they have them to sell. Next time I'm back in the village I will seriously consider booking this B&B. For a pound forty, you can get a cup of tea and free wifi here. It's cold outside this morning, so a much better place to wait. There are two rooms and they are beautifully decorated with mismatched chairs and stools and tables, a comfy sofa and a posh arm chair. Dark blue walls and reclaimed wood. The coffee is delicious. Proper coffee. The teas are all special and natural. She even serves a colour changing one. The cakes are all home baked. The prices are moderate and really quite cheap for what you get. However in the need for fuel in the early afternoon with no pubs that provide food around bar the Rodney. I headed here with my Numpty in tow. Friendly greeting by the owner who didn't rush us despite my Numpty being indecisive about the offerings. I ended up picking for her in the end. We chose a variety of toasted sandwiches. Which in past experiences are usually a sorry sight. Here however... Toasted ciabatta which provides the right amount of crunch and chew. Chips and salad on the side. All tasting wonderful. We arrived not long before closing so negative nancy that I am, I thought we'd get scrag ends or they might be out of stock of some ingredients. Nope. Everything was fresh, everything was there.
