For a pound forty, you can get a cup of tea and free wifi here. It's cold outside this morning, so a much better place to wait. They have pastries and hot food for breakfast and it looks like they serve food all day. They also have beers, wine and spirits.

I hadn't eaten lunch, but they were only serving cakes and tea, since it was after 4, they said. So I ordered a scone AND crumpets, lol. Scones here are huge and one was more than enough for my whole lunch. I couldn't even finish the whole thing. And it was really really good. They were mopping the floor upstairs to get ready to close at 5 and the place smelled like old mop water, but the girl let me open the side door right next to my table and then it was good. They're called a coffee house but they also have as equally as good tea menu and it's amazing to see so many different blends on offer. The cake menu is also huge and all are baked fresh each day - in fact it was so good that I really wanted 2 slices but maybe my heart was pleased that that didn't happen... All I'll say is that the orange and almond cake was delicious and so so moist - yum! The real 5 star hero of this place though is the owner who was just really lovely! Very accommodating to our 2 year old daughter, she was also super friendly and welcoming to us - plus really went the extra yard by selling us some lovely ham for our picnic after all the nearby shops were shut - really nice extra touch and just massively genuine! My only gripe was the brownie, it was too dense and moist, more like a biscuit cake - almost like it was uncooked? Brownies are so varied though, so this just wasn't to my taste. The friendly young waitress chatted to us and offered us a homemade biscotti, I was hesitant, as I don't like the prepacked version, but this was divine! The food is varied, reasonably priced and caters for all diets including mine (vegan). The young couple who run it have exciting plans for its future and I'm looking forward to going back to see how those plans have come to fruition. Lunch here was the highlight of my day.
