Principal ANDREA PEREZ screams at you when you bring an logical and reasonable issue to the table, maybe she was a big hit back in her small town but doesn't know how to debate, doesn't take your kind requests to lower her voice and don't care about paying customers just their high school friendship as employees, also remember to brush up on your english before giving a presentation. A teacher name LILA OTERO or Lita thinks she is a queen, either you suck up her lack of professionalism or you get out, she must be having an affair with the owner, be part owner or something since she has personal problems with most of the moms. --Not recommended for bilingual or english speaking families -- As a business owner this doesn't make sense, the principal and this teacher talked behind my wife's back, calling her a B##ch and they just believe this is the correct way to run a business, not taking in consideration the bad vibes this childish behavior doesn't go with the school's mission. Terrible experience, I enrolled my daughter for summer camp, for her to adapt to the environment of this place before starting the school year there, the FIRST day AT 1:00 PM (during kids nap time) the director PATRICIA CONTRERAS (who apparently believes that she has a doctorate in PEDIATRIC NEUROPSYCOLOGY) call me to tell me that my daughter was a child with PROBLEMS and that they could not assign a teacher to take care of my daughter all day, since they counted 16 children per classroom and 2 teachers. My daughter comes from a daycare where she was more than a year, without any inconvenience, and NOT special treatment was required because she is NORMAL and I simply decided to change her to another place so that she had another experience, that was the worst decision we ever made. This lady is NOT qualified to handle/ownership a preschool, she does not have LOVE for the kids or VOCATION. To start my daughter has no severe diagnosis, no cognitive delay, is simply receiving therapies because she had to be operated on the ears and obviously does not speak yet, but is a normal girl, with normal behavior and development and according to their age. It was a very bad decision on my part to have enrolled her in that daycare and not pay attention to the previous reviews. When I went to pick up my daughter immediately after being rejected (it was not even 3 hours in charge of the teachers) the girl did not want to fall asleep and apparently that was what upset them, obviously the girl has the routine of taking bottle and pacifier before sleeping, when i received her bag the bottle was intact and the pacifier was never given to her, that's why my daughter bothered them, because it was the first day, she was just beginning to adapt and they did not follow the guidelines that my husband and i told both teachers that same day in the morning. This institution is not a REGGIO EMILIA, do not waste your money there, it is simply a place where they take care of children, but they are not interested at all for their emotional development or learning. Obviously, my daughter returned to her usual daycare from where she should never leave, be careful with these people. Para empezar mi hija no tiene ningun diagnostico severo, ningun tipo de retraso cognitivo, simplemente esta recibiendo terapias porque tuvo que ser operada de los oidos y obviamente no habla aun, pero es una nina normal, con comportamiento y desarrollo normal y acorde a su edad, muy mala decision de mi parte haberla inscrito en ese daycare y no prestar atencion a los reviews anteriores. Cuando fui a recoger a mi hija inmediatamente despues de ser rechazada (no estuvo ni 3 horas a cargo de las maestras) la nina no queria dormirse y al parecer eso fue lo que les MOLESTO, obviamente la nina tiene la rutina de tomar tetero y chupon antes de dormir, cuando recibi su bolso el tetero estaba intacto y el chupon nunca se lo dieron, por eso es que les molesto mi hija, porque era el primer dia, se estaba apenas empezando a adaptar y no siguieron las pautas que les informe apenas la deje ese mismo dia en la manana. Esta institucion NO es un REGGIO EMILIA, no malgastes tu dinero, es simplemente un local en donde cuidan ninos, pero no se interesan para nada por su Desarrollo emocional o de aprendizaje. Horrible experience with very cruel teachers! I never make an effort to post reviews. However, the treatment that my Daughter and I received while she was attending this school was absolutely despicable and alarming. After being at TJOL for over a year I began to question the quality of care when my daughter started a new school year and switched classes. At the end her first week my 2 yr old daughter, who barely spoke at the time, started saying "callate" (a phrase no one in my family uses around my daughter). My daughter seemed scared of her new teachers Astrid and Rita. She never wanted to interact with them and was constantly trying to go into other classrooms when I would drop her off in the mornings. Looking back every time I would enter the classroom both teachers were always scolding the children or complaining. Soon after I mentioned this I began to get negative feedback from her teachers stating that my daughter needed to be separated from her peers because she did not engage with her classmates, follow the rules or interact with them. A hypocritical solution that seemed to be the wrong way to promote proper social interactions. The final straw was an in person meeting with her teachers and the director where they rattled off a list of issues, such as: behavioral issues, social issues, stunted learning, my daughters potential for disability and violence, with another comment proclaiming special needs. Mind you, at this point my daughter had been bitten 3 times and had never acted out or hit any of the children at school. Yet somehow she was the one being "separated" from other classmates because SHE posed a "threat" to the other children. Whatever that threat was, never was mentioned or explained to me to this day. Long story short my daughter now attends Global Village Preschool and is thriving. Almost immediately she began to double her progress and was no longer saying "shut up" but singing the songs her new day care taught her. She has blossomed in a way that has only highlighted the negative impact her teachers had on my daughter. She has not had any incidents with any of the other children and is excited to see her teacher everyday. The stark contrast of both the teachers, the care now, and my daughters glowing development leads me to believe that The Joy of Learning was not a positive environment for my child. I feel blessed we have moved on and eliminated what was apparently a disastrous place for child development. I wish i would have read a review like this upon entering the first place, but as all parents know you live and learn and must always be diligent in assessing the facts when strangers are involved with child care and development. I hope this serves as a warning to all considering The Joy of Learning for their child. May this review serve as a source of honest perspective with the intention of goodwill towards others and their children's quality of care. read more

Very good early learning school. Staff is well prepared and very caring with the kids. School is modern and teach the children using the most up to date learning methods. Is noticeable all children are happy studying here and parents are too to have their kids there. read more

As a former Kindergarten teacher at a Doral elementary school I have had the pleasure of teaching many students that came from The Joy of Learning and I can say it truly was a pleasure! All of my students that came from this preschool were absolutely well prepared not only academically but socially and emotionally. My students had a very strong language foundation both in English and Spanish. Their phonics skills were highly developed finding our rigorous curriculum to be just at their right zone of proximal development. These students started Kindergarten so prepared a very high percentage of The Joy of Learning students were referred for the Gifted program. Parents also had very wonderful things to say about their experience there. As a teacher, I would recommend parents to have their little ones be a part of this wonderful educational institution that nurtures students' well being and academic integrity. read more

Joy of learning is overrated. Good in theory but lots of us moms are realizing that most of the teachers only have 45 hour training certificates which explains a lot. For being such an expensive school they should have bachelor teachers that are trained and know what constitutes proper teacher student interaction. I have heard of at least one teacher bullying the students and doing inappropriate punishments. read more

I had a really bad experience with my son, The Director of the School have no Pedagogy Skills, The management support was never successful, it never received a good guidance she was always apathetic and uncooperative at times when we need help. I am in favor of things must be communicated in time and in the right way, and that there should be a monitoring process to ensure that everyone is working together to achieve the objective. A good school is more than a nice place or good food, must have the right people to support your kids. read more

I have had two of my children at this school and it has been an amazing experience. Besides it being a very inviting learning envionment, the owners, administration, staff and teachers have always been wonderful to our kids and my family. I can't thank them enough for the love and support they have given our children.The Reggio Emilia approach at this school is carried out as it should and kids not only learn but they do so having fun. On another note, the communication between the teachers and parents is also excellent. I received daily e-mails with pictures and information regarding what the kids did in school that day. They also have parent-teacher conferences throughout the year and every time I would call the school (at whatever time is was) the teachers would always come to the phone right away and talk to me. All in all I am very pleased with everything, the level of education, the facilities, teachers and staff. I would highly recommend it to other parents seeking a well-rounded school. read more
