My wife and I came here as part of a work outing to see a Valley Cats game and we had a great time. As baseball stadiums go, this place is pretty nice. Parking is convenient and there is no cover charge. The stadium doesn't hold many seats (capacity is posted as 4,500) which means that they only have one main level of seats and a couple of "boxes" above. Every seat is pretty good, and you feel as if you are in on the action. Some games don't sell out (well, most games) so after a while you could probably find yourself in a front row seat... The concession stands sell lots of fun things and the prices seem reasonable. Sadly, I smelled fried dough and imagined it was here but couldn't find the vendor selling it. It was on the sign on the wall as being available. Oh, the agony of being so close... yet so far. The team mascot, "Southpaw," did his best to entertain the crowd. He spent over an inning in our section alone taking pictures and picking on the Yankees fans, which are both admirable endeavors in my book. They had the usual minor-league hijinks between innings that are goofy to watch, are impossible to hear over the loud speaker, and almost always have some winner. In short, for a minor league game on a budget and on a nice evening, it is hard to beat this place. read more

So I don't have a lot of comparison for minor league baseball stadiums, but I really love coming to this stadium. My company has season tickets to the Valley Cats so we end up here 5-10 times a season. While we have season tickets, sometimes we end up sitting in not the reserved seats (what a great perk BTW - to trade in unused tickets for alternate games) and there's not a really bad seat in the house. Sometimes there's some bad views with sunshine, but you still feel like you're right in the field. The stadium itself is small enough to be able to walk to various food and drink options and not feel like you're walking forever. Also, you almost always still have a view of the field and can watch the game while getting your snacks. This is great, especially when bringing kids to the game. While it does get crowded sometimes, it's never so miserable that you can't get around easily. The bathrooms are kept up on and mostly clean. The staff is always friendly and willing to help if you have questions. The food options are pretty good - you have your standard fare of hot dogs, hamburgers, etc., plus you have pizza and Mexican and a few other options. They have a Brown's brewing stand and your typical draft beers, and a hard cider stand. Really, you can get a lot of options for the size of the stadium. read more

The "Joe" is the best place, in the area to not only watch top quality Baseball with some award winning staff. It is also a great place to bring the kids. The Joseph L Bruno Stadium - catch - Stadiums & Arenas Near Me - Troy, New York

I'm a veteran of many, many ballparks -- over 150, including the entire old configuration of the New York-Penn league, as well as the old Albany-Colonie ballpark - but we only recently got here to see the ValleyCats. I review with that experience/bias in mind and with the perspective of having to manage a couple of smallish boys. This is a AA-sized ballpark in a AAA-sized region hosting a low-A ballclub, an eccentricity in itself in that it's attached to the community college and appears to have had its origin as a bit of dual-purpose pork. Casting aside the question of the public good for the moment, as such it comes across as not quite entirely a professional ball park, but it's new, clean, and well-appointed. High up there on the plus side are the relatively low ticket prices, and the free (at least when we were there) parking not too far away. It's a bit of a maze getting in and out of the parking areas, but now we've waypointed it, it should be easier. The sight lines are good all the way around, but they ballpark designers angled the outfield seats towards the outfield, not home plate, which to me is a fairly serious sin in this day and age. Because it's a one-level concourse (there's plenty of room for expansion), most of it not under a roof (I'm excluding the "luxury" boxes, which have to have the worst views in the infield, they're so far back), everything is pretty open and easy to get to. They did make the mistake of making the outfield sections longer than they need to be, so combined with the angling problem you will be looking over people's heads if seated out there, but it's not really too bad. The bulk of the infield seats are behind the protective screen, which is modern in that it's easier to see through, but I'm still not fond of watching my baseball through a screen. If you want the best viewing experience, I'd suggest midway up behind the dugouts or perpendicular to third base or first base, where there's less foul territory and the seats are actually just as close to the players if not closer than the vaunted behind the plate locations. Concessions are what you'd expect - nothing particularly memorable here, and they're still at movie-concession prices, which to my mind is a bit high for low-A short season ball. Lines were not bad, but folks did tend to congregate on the third base side, so they're shorter on the first base side. There is a picnic shelter area in right field, although you cannot BYOPicnic. You can also get specialty beers, which is nicer than your average ballpark swill, but prices are ballpark standard, which is to say, high. They also have the malt liquor beverages (Mike's, etc.) and bad wine. As far as healthful choices for kids, it's slim pickings. Be prepared for the full-on carnival food experience if you bring the youngsters. They run the usual minor league fun activities between innings, but do a very bad job of announcing them in advance and prepping the crowd for the fun, so it goes by quickly and confusingly. That's too bad. I will say one thing I appreciate is that the PA system is not overamplified; perhaps it's the lack of a covering for the field, but most ballparks we go to these days are horror zones of constant aural stimulation, which drives my kids crazy (not in a good way) and me deaf. Some downticks on making it hard to exit the ballpark after the game; they should open up more gates. Everybody has to funnel out through the main entrance area, basically. I can't say as far as greatest ballpark experiences the "Joe" is going to ever be special for me, but for the low-key class of ball that's played here, it's a better than average ballpark experience and worthy of 4 stars within the category, and it's far friendlier for smaller kids than any big league ballpark is. read more

As far as Minor League stadiums go this is about the best you can get. The fireworks show after the games are always a fun spectacle. Also, there is always promotions and other things going on to keep the fans entertained. The food is very good as well. The hot dogs have great flavor and the sausage and peppers is always tasty. The sausage is fresh and the peppers are flavorful. Overall, Joseph L. Bruno stadium is a nice single-A Minor League Baseball Stadium. read more

We got together on Friday evening 6/15/18 for Father's Day with my son's family. We went to the Tri City Valley Cats game at Joe Bruno Stadium. We had easily purchased tickets online. Sell out crowd & HVCC construction disrupted parking but only slightly. Local band was playing before hand at the entrance. Good seating. All seating has good sight lines. Seating capacity 4,500. This team was the NY-Penn League champions in 2018. This is a short season A league affiliate for MLB's Houston Astros. Every home game has a promotion, field activities for children, contests between innings, and assorted other kid-friendly activities and the team's mascot, a cat named Southpaw. Food and drink are very reasonable ex hot dog & beer $7.00. There are better than average choices ex sausage & pepper sandwiches and a selection of local craft beers.There is also a covered picnic area that can be reserved for catered corporate events on the first base side outfield. The best deal for weekday evening games is the Family Four Pack. Four admissions, four programs, four hot dogs, & four sodas only $40.00, cheaper than the movies. And post game fireworks. Clean, safe restrooms. Plenty of helpful staff. Good marketing locally. A recommended experience. And as the say at the stadium "Vamos Gatos". read more

Try to get a seat alongside the 3rd base/left field side to avoid the glare of the sun. Once the sun sets its okay but those first couple of innings can be rough! Otherwise it's a great park to watch a baseball game and the Valley Cats are usually title contenders year in and year out in the NY-Penn League. They also have several post game fireworks shows each year which are fun to watch. read more

This was my second visit to see the Valley Cats play at the Joe. For starters the parking is plentiful and free. Ticket prices range from $5 advance grandstand to $12 premium box on game day. The stadium is extremely clean, the food is average for this type of event, and the prices are fairly reasonable. They have activities like bounce houses for this kids if they aren't captivated by the game. So I give them 4 stars because this seems to be a good place for a family night out that won't break the bank. read more

I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with this small, yet decent sized stadium. It's clean, comfortable and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Lots of vendors to choose from to get that stadium like feel--nothing crazy, but they have their hot dogs, fried dough, drinks--you get the point. Very nice little gift shop and they do a lot of between inning activities to keep the fans and especially children engaged. Fireworks here on the 4th of July are always wonderful. Actually, all of their fireworks after their weekend home games are a good time. Two thumbs up to rebuilding Troy and giving it some class. read more
