I took in a wedding ring set that I had first taken to another jeweler. The previous jeweler sized one of the rings, which cracked. They would not stand behind their work even though I hadn't even worn it yet. They also wanted to charge five times the amount they initially quoted to fix the other ring. My new local favorite jewelry store. I'm so happy I stopped in there. I was actually looking for another jewelers but stumbled into this store. Michelle and Maury are really helpful. They both go out of there way The collections are beautiful as well. They do feature Steven Douglas so know you can always order through them if it's not in stock. But in the past month I have such a comfortable feeling going in there. Everyone's so friendly- they do have a big older dog who greets you and some days he's a little grouchy so he'll say hi and go back to bed. The prices are average for fine jewelry but they also have jewelry that's fun and reasonable. And they're happy to do chain adjustments, etc. I hear this month of September they do a blow out sale. We had a wonderful experience!! We came in last year during Christmas time, when the town was alive with a tree lighting ceremony & festivities. As we walked down the street, my husband surprised me with his idea for my present and gracious and patient as the store was at waiting for him to pay it off (which he did!!!!). Hands down, The Jewelry Source is the best place in the South Bay and LA for all your jewelry needs. Their loose gems selection is incredible and Brenda, the owner, even travels internationally to hand pick exquisite quality gems (you can even custom order the stones) which cuts out the middle man thus giving you an incredible gem at an affordable price. They can custom design anything you can imagine at any price point, and will go the extra mile to make sure you are completely thrilled with your jewelry. I have had precious stones added to a cross which turned out to be so incredibly well done to the point that you wouldn't know the stones weren't original to the piece. The store has a vast array of custom pieces and also has major designer labels as well. The selection is always changing so it is worth stopping in often to see the "new arrivals". The jewelry pieces are top notch and you can assure you are getting an investment piece of art and not just a piece that everyone else has from any mall store. As far as jewelry repair goes you can't find a better place to take care of your precious items. They can do everything from small repairs like polishing out scratches, putting in new watch batteries, reconnecting broken chains (like I had done to my 100 year old rosary), etc. and major repairs like refurbishing pieces to put them back to their former glory. My mom has an antique 2 carat sapphire and platinum ring from the 1930's which needs to have the band rebuilt. She has been waiting to find a jewelry store she trusts with her heirloom, and after meeting Brenda she has decided to trust her and her staff to make the repairs. I have been to The Jewelry Source in the past and had a very positive and welcoming experience but when I last visited recently to replace a battery for an inexpensive Casio, I was told it could be done and was later contacted by the employee who informed me that they were not able to do the watch battery replacement. I returned and expected to pick up my watch, but instead was informed that they were charging me $15.00 just for the "labour" cost of changing a battery. In all of my years bringing in watches for batteries at various jewelry and watch watch repair stores I have never been charged for not doing something. I have brought in mechanical watches that other jewelers couldn't end up repairing and they didn't charge me, but to charge for not replacing the battery is not reasonable or acceptable. If you cannot do the task do not tell customers that you can and charge them for it. read more

I took a pair of my great grandmothers earrings here for repair and four watches. They were so helpful. I had two different women helping me at once. My watches were sent out and had to have a new band ordered. It was less than a week before everything was back. all my watches work great and I love the new band. My great grandmothers earrings were also repaired quickly and look like they will withstand another 85 years. I've been coming to Brenda for all of my jewelry needs for over 22 years. While I am on a teacher's budget, most of my business has been reworking or enhancing family pieces I have inherited over the years. Brenda remade my husband's wedding ring when we realized the design was less than well made. She restrung vintage pearls I inherited from a great grandmother. She helped me pick out and made a beautiful pendant out of my mother's diamond from her wedding band when she passed away so that I can wear it close to my heart. She mounted another diamond from my grandmother into an earring I wear in a second hole on one ear. She reworked my original wedding ring (that one didn't work out) into one piece, white gold with an oval canary diamond in the center and marquise all around it (it looks like a daisy!). Brenda is now currently resizing my Grannie's ring (she was tiny and I am an amazon) that I inherited when she passed away last year. I can't wait to see it next week! I've also purchased several stunning, one of a kind pieces for myself and as gifts. If they don't have it, they can get it for you!
