This bar is risky they have a pole for dancing right in the center and an upstairs VIP lounge (perfect for B-days or exclusive parties). They have an all night every night two for one special. Why not start off with two piscolas right off the bat for the price of one. The have karaoke and random sexy dances by the sexy men who work there. This is technically a gay bar but I like to go with my girl friends or my guy friends for some cheap drinks and to get the night going with something a little different. They have a variety of seating from a typical round table, to cozy pillow covered benches. The lighting is low and very party like.

The menu is one of those old trading card plastic sleeve things with little trading cards for the food and beer. They have a pretty wide selection of brews, from Chilean IPAs on tap to Coronado Brewing Company (from Coronado, California, USA). So the beer is really great, but the building itself is old and a bit cramped (not to mention hot because it gets crowded). I had the spoH IPA and have to say it was one of the better ones in the world - just the right amount of fruitiness and hops. Definitely a good place to stop by to satisfy that craft brew craving.

The place is small, weird setting. Inside a concert room, then the bar area, then the patio which only has a few tables and always taken. The staff can be rude at times and the bouncers are as a rule pretty douchy. Everyoness dresses in black and it can get really hot during summer time. I think i got kicked out the last time i was there. The bouncer didnt appreciate my dancing crowd. Oh well, ill still be back for the cheap beer.

When you walk in the narrow doorway passed the bar and the anarchist posters, and into the industrial-like dark setting, you automatically know it will be a good night. The music is blasting with all types of rock (and a bit of scream-o thrown in every once in awhile to keep you on your feet), the clientele are rowdy (as you can tell by the "graffiti" on the walls) and it seems as if everyone knows one another (I don't mean to say everyone is super friendly, although they probably are, but I actually think they really do know almost everyone in the bar). I assume this is because Bar de Rene has made a loyal following for themselves throughout the years, with many returning clients. This could be in part because of the live music that is performed by local bands or the largest and cheapest piscolas I have ever seen. (I'm thinking a little bit of both). The bartenders are super generous, they serve you with a glass 3/4 of the way filled with a coke on the side! Even the most "piscoleros" of my friends have to ask for a separate glass to safely drink their now 2 piscolas. If you haven't tried many piscolas yet, I will let you know that the usual ratio is 1/3 of the glass filled with pisco and plenty of room left for your coke. Basicallly, live music + large and cheap piscolas = bound to be a good time.

It is a great place to go for a drink and dance after dinner in Bellavista. Very fun and easy going crowd with great music by both international and Chilean DJ's as well as live bands (a great escape from all the reggaeton which is so popular in chile). They have two dance floors and one is more tecno focused while the other is funk mixed with classic pop (depending on the night). I have always had a great time here and my friends and I have danced until the wee hours of the night. They also have great cocktails and happy hour - they even have servers up until around 12am where you will then have to fight your way to one of the bars. Tip: Bring your ID - I know that is a given, but I have gotten super lax about it and if you don't have one on you, the bouncers wont let you in. Also, if you come before 11pm you can get in free - otherwise you will have to pay. Keep an eye out on their Twitter or FB page as a lot of times you can get in free by adding yourself to the guest list.

Over the next three hours, we tried hilarious-looking-yet-delicious-tasting drinks, ate yummy Italian food and thick steaks, listened to an unexpected band, and saw wacky sights like servers wearing blue-and-green lit-up motorcycle helmets parading through the restaurant when a table ordered the special dessert. This is definitely a spot to return to with friends from out of town. It feels like New Orleans had a baby with the Mario Brothers. A complete surprise but fun and whimsical, too. We arrived early by Santiago standards (8pm) and the restaurant was pretty quiet aside from the band warming up. As the night wore on and more locals arrived, we could barely hear our neighbors. As for the food, we all tried different plates and the guys with their steaks seemed happy. I had a delicious ravioli and a couple of others tried the gnocchi. I enjoyed my dish, yet the others said the gnocchi was overcooked. The drinks were all great (and a little crazy), but some came with tall pours while others were much smaller depending on the type of container (ranging from wine glasses to glass fish). All around a cool joint. Go early if you want to hear what people at your table are saying. Stay late for the entertainment.
