I was in this store yesterday for the first time and was very impressed. The lady who helped me purchase a couple of cutting boards and a knife organizer was very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and gave me lots of tips I found useful. Give me a kitchen store and I'm in - give me a kitchen store on vacation and I'm in heaven. The owner was very welcoming and was interested in me as a customer. This store had a ton of merchandise but it was not overwhelming. I was able to find about 4 thing that I purchased and I have a ton of kitchen things so you know this store has a lot of good things. The cons? This store is kinda overpriced, you can get most of the stuff there cheaper online. Everything else is a pro though. The owners are really super friendly and helpful. The store is really cute and has some really unique items I have not seen elsewhere. It's also rare for Manistee to have any kind of high end kitchen store, so it is a great addition to the downtown area (however, my guess is this store is really there to cater more towards tourists). I walk around the store almost every time I am in the area. Highly recommend walking around and checking it out. read more

I love a good kitchen store. The Ideal Kitchen had a lot of items, and I'd bet you can find that hard-to-find item there. It has almost everything you might need. I also love to support local businesses. If you want cheaper, go online, but if you want great service from a personable retailer, definitely visit. An older couple came in while I was in the store, and the owner, Shelly, gave them such great customer service. I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. read more

I love coming here! The owner is super nice and really helpful. I went in to look for some mini cooking gear for my son, and she walked me around the store and showed me some options. This place is a dream for anyone who is an avid baker or someone who loves to cook! Really good quality items. A few years back we bought some ceramic knives and they're still good as new with the sharpener she recommended. She has never been pushy about buying things, and she'll help you find what you're looking for even if that means directing you someplace else (and for a small business owner, that definitely shows character). read more

This review is long overdue . I'm so happy to have such a terrific kitchen store a mile from my house ! Last Christmas my husband purchased a full set of Wusthof knives for me at Ideal Kitchen . When my daughter saw the set , heard the price and the additional sharpening for life deal, she told us that she had paid more ( even with all possible coupons ) at Macy's for a smaller set . Every time I stop in I find a new cool gadget that I can't wait to use . More importantly the wonderful atmosphere and useful info there are a treasure . read more

The Ideal Kitchen located on River Street downtown Manistee, Michigan is a wonderful little kitchen equipment shop that carries any appliance a kitchen could possibly need, whether it is the kitchen of a beginner or that of someone who has been cooking for years. The owner, Shelley, is always willing to help a customer if they have any questions and she will even walk around the shop with her customers to help explain things if she is not currently busy, explain any items intended purpose, and how it works comes naturally to her because she is very passionate about cooking. The Ideal Kitchen also has a great layout that is easy to maneuver through and find the item the customer is questing for. Though the Ideal Kitchen is an equipment shop, that is not all the Owner keeps stocked on her shelves. Customers can also find a small section that houses a variety of teas, both loose leaf and bagged, and she also keeps some spices such as salt and pepper in stock. In the front of the store she keeps a nice variety of hand soaps and lotion because working in the kitchen can be mess and dry out skin. All of her products are reasonably priced. Even if a customer finds a similar product for less in another store it is probably not as nice of quality as it would be from The Ideal Kitchen. When a customer shops at The Ideal Kitchen they are not just shopping for kitchen supplies, but they are helping a small town business owner who does amazing work and is just as loyal to her customers as they are to her. read more
