It is my local and I'm also on the Temple Bar table football team (who won the Oxford University League this year!). It is a nice old Victorian pub from the outside. The interior is beautifully thought out by an interior designer - lovely calming green walls, comfy leather chairs and sofas, with a good layout. I guess the Temple Bar could be considered a 'House of Fun'. It is packed out on Friday and Saturday nights and busy other nights too. There is plenty going onas well as an excellent top quality foozball table, there is pool, jenga, giant connect 4, a very popular billiards table, darts, and other games. While away the afternoon, chat with friends, immerse yourself in one of the super cozy sofas, read the paper, or join in on one of the evening activities - a popular Quiz on Sunday night with lots of prizes and a bountiful jackpot. Tuesday nights during term time are foozball team games, and the darts team play on tuesdays or wednesdays. Wednesday nights is Open Mic - there is a large stage area and some good acts. Thursday is Reggae and Friday night Karaokee fun - always well attended with plenty of laughs!!! They also have a beer garden out the back, boasting a fine covered 'tent' area with heaters, and lots of picnic tables. Barry the landlord and his family keep this place in tip top condition, there are always many staff on hand and a very long bar, so you can be assured to spend your time having fun with friends, and not standing at the bar waiting for drinks. Of course a pub experience is always topped by a good sailor, and Barry is that man - he always likes to know what is going on with his pub teams and how we are doing in the Oxford league - makes sure we have a good setup for our fooz table and the lighting is correct. Top Pub. Top Man. Top Fun. Come down and have some fun. If you are interested in being on one of the Foozball teams, then please let me know. We have a lot of fun and are always happy to give tips and include everyone in the team who shows enthusiasm! :)

I've been dragged here several times over the years and it's really not my kind of place. The…read moreatmosphere is of a look-at-me yuppy meat-market. The drinks they stock are designed to be exhibited to fellow drinkers rather than actually drunk, and the continuous loop of runway fashion show footage on the TV screens just tops off the overall impression of empty-headed fatuousness. This time we actually ate here. A team of tech geeks. Of course, we didn't feel out of place because for all its atmosphere the Living Room doesn't seem to draw the crowd it targets any more, at least not on a weeknight. The menu is predominantly Italian-inspired but with a wide range of other influences including some British favourites. Unfortunately for the price you pay, the execution left something to be desired. The risotto I ordered was the wrong side of al dente, leaving me with crunchy mouthfuls of powdery rice. The treacle tart I ordered for desert was pretty much the same as the ones you can buy in any supermarket, except that they'd tried to stretch one of those to 12 portions. Being honest for a moment, I always get grumpy when I'm in Oxford and I end up in a pub that doesn't serve decent ales, so it may not be as bad as I make it sound. But there are certainly far better places to be and to eat.
