Servings are generous, and the seafood is fresh (delivered 6 times weekly according to the proprietor). While it's not going to win any awards for a high class dining experience, it's a solid local restaurant. The outside and takeaway areas use a different menu, and are definitely more tuned towards the typical 'fish and chips' experience. Prices are reasonable ($10 for a fish and chips pack) although drinks are slightly expensive at $4 for a 600ml bottle. Again, seafood is fresh and orders are delivered quickly. There are several tables available upstairs on the roof, which provide a nice dining experience during the summer. I would recommend this establishment.

First the positive - the building itself is a great historic building with exposed stone, down an alley in the cool part of town. Service from the staff was great, friendly and timely without being in your face. Now the problem - the food is underwhelming and over priced. The food was fine but I wont bother going through the order because the service was so slow and disorganised its just not worth it. We waited over 30 minutes for drinks. I asked for a glass of wine three times after the 30 minutes before it showed up. At about the hour mark 2 out of the three mains showed up. The guy had only put in one of our two dumpling orders so the other came after the mains. We decided against refilling drinks or getting any dessert since we were already at the 90 minute mark and didnt want to spend another 45.

I hadn't eaten here in years and years (my teenage days are sadly long gone), but when I visited home last year a friend suggested we meet at Lipari for dinner. It can be loud at times here, but I think it adds to the atmosphere of Lipari. Everyone should eat here - it's a Geelong staple!

For entree I ordered the focaccia with pomodoro (tomato), anchovies and capers. I was expecting some tasteless slab of salty bread plied with a few toppings. Hardly. The focaccia was wafer thin, crispy to bite and filled with melted cheese. The tomato topping was amazing, appropriately accompanied with salty anchovies. A provincial dish that I will be coming back for. My pork parpadelle was also perfetto (yep, perfect). I loved the diversity of the rustic Italian dishes on the menu. It's easy enough to find, and there's a large carpark on site. It was a little bit of a walk to the restaurant/dining space but it's all clearly marked. Inside, it's a large beer hall space with plenty of seating, a takeaway beer/cider area and merchandise. We took a seat and ordered a selection of food - the mozzarella/tomato salad and fried chicken were the highlights. Don't get their house made cola, it's hideous. Service was friendly and casual, and we got some beers & cider to takeaway with us. We had a great time here and I'd definitely go back when I'm in Geelong next.
