I love this place. It's my favorite place to shop. My husband and I come here every week. Most of my clothing comes from here--amazing condition, respectable brands, and all at incredible prices. They sell everything, from kitchenware, paintings, craft supplies, books, purses, shoes, decor, furniture. Also, I have to mention that the staff is so kind and friendly. This is one of my favorite resale shops. Every lady that works in there has a heart of gold. The dressing rooms are so nice. They have the neatest, cleanest put together shop I have visited. One of my favorite things is how the display outfits on mannequins above the tracks and in the windows. I take my nicer stuff here for donation. Their proceeds go to an excellent Parker County Charity for Women and Children, families in our area. read more

I've shopped a lot of thrift stores in the DFW Metroplex, and this one is absolutely up in the top tier...top 5% for that matter! Everything they sell is in perfect or near-perfect condition. If needed, it has been tested to function and cleaned well. There is everything from clothing for men and women to books, CDs, etc., to decor to kitchenware, and more! Its facilities are bright, clean, and appealing! You can tell the management runs a tight ship with a positive, Christian attitude. So, this was my husband's and my first, and last, experience here (we drove an hour to get here). Just as a back-story, I spent the last week before this at MD Anderson in Houston with my mother, who has two different types of cancer - so I proceed from here. Since I returned from Houston, I spent the last three days trying to reorganize our life & clean out our closet - just a little reprieve, trying to do some good in this world; hence, I was going to donate my clothing, my husband's, and my mother-in-law threw in some of her clothing as well. So, after doing a tid-bit of research on the internet, I chose The Hope Chest - as from what I saw, they partner with Center of Hope who sets out to help people in need in Parker County. To whatever extent that sounds amazing, after visiting The Hope Chest, I question their ability to truly respect people in general, much less people in need. I wish I had saved our things and taken them to a facility that actually respects people. Upon arriving to the facility, we entered a door that was propped open - we assumed if it was propped open, one could enter/exit accordingly (because at the end of the day, if it was that important, why would they have it propped open?) but, as we patiently waited in line to tell them we had items to donate, the lady behind the counter snidely remarked to a gentlemen that was a regular there, "Are you going to go through this door (pointing to a different door than we came in) or are you going to go through that door?" (the door we entered); she continues "Some people have been coming & going through the other door." The gentlemen stated, "No, I like to go through this one" (the one that apparently people are supposed to go through). So, apparently the door you enter through is a big-to-do whether it is your first visit and they have them propped open or not. Note taken, we entered through the wrong door. Once we were addressed at the counter, we told them (the lady behind the counter (who pointed out we came through the wrong door) & Danell (spelling may not be 100% correct)) we had clothing to donate & where did we need to take them/what do we need to do with them? They asked if we just had clothing. I told them, no, we had clothing & a couple of bags (meaning, we wanted to donate clothing & a couple of bags of luggage). Danell directed us to the next door over and stated "Well if it's just a couple of bags of clothing.....you need to go here" I said, "No, there is a lot of clothing, but a couple of bags (referring to the luggage bags)", she looked at my husband & I with a snooty look and said, "Well, when people say a couple, I think of two" and held two fingers up (like we didn't know what a couple meant). If she had listened in the first place, there would have been no confusion....but then there's that. Then she proceeded to tell us to go the third door down....whatever, right? We are trying to GIVE you stuff, sorry to inconvenience you, but where do we need to go? So, we proceed to the third door down. Fine, at that point, we actually ran into a human being who respects people (I believe her name was Heidi (but I didn't look at her name tag), but I know I had spoken to Heidi on the phone three times prior, & she was nothing but respectful & due to her respectfulness, a big reason why I chose The Hope Chest). As we were unloading all of our clothes (& "couple" of bags), Danell was very pushy; one of the plastic bags with the clothes broke, & I told her I would help her & she stated "No, I got it." At the end, the polite/respectful lady offered us a receipt. I haven't donated like this in the past, so I didn't know quite what she was talking about, so she nicely/respectfully explained, & I told her I would take one (although in actuality, we donated so much stuff, I couldn't begin to put a dollar amount on it). As I now stood in the second doorway waiting on the receipt, Danell was coming up from behind me, pushing her way through, saying "Beep! Beep! Beep! I need to get by!" - Like a child who doesn't know how to respectfully say, "Excuse me." Once again, sorry for being an inconvenience to you, no worries it won't happen again. I do have other items & more clothing I would love to donate & will, but it will definitely NOT be to The Hope Chest. I hope & pray the items are put to good use. I took the time to wash & dry items I felt needed to be "freshened up." People may bad-mouth the big city of Houston, but my mom & I traveled all over that place, & my entire experience there was nothing but refreshing & gave me a new outlook on life & people all together, until I went to Weatherford, TX - where it was just reiterated that you are nothing but a thorn in people's side, even when you are trying to help them out. I will NEVER donate to this place again. God Bless Heidi. The rest of you need to step back & understand why you are doing what you are doing - you never know what someone else is going through.
