That's right - this dark but warm little pub is brimful of random pig toys, pig posters and pig sculptures. It adds a unique atmosphere to an already well-known atmospheric pub. Being only about 20 houses away, you can trust me that this is a true local gem. After 5 on most nights you'll find this place packed with drinkers who can't be bothered to go home just yet or catch the train home to the villages. This has all changed, the couple now in charge are clearly experienced in catering, customer service, front of house and know how to run a very successful and enjoyable venue. The choice of starters was great and they were all delicious. We all had the flat iron steaks and they were cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The wine list was good and the desert options were all extremely tempting - so we did - and they too were tasty and well constructed. I wasn't expecting much when I walked in, but I have to say, the welcome was wonderful. Grantchester is very lucky to have these two champions running one of the main dining establishments in the village, we'll be back for sure, it was a truly lovely experience.

Try the chicken tamales and tortilla potatoes and chicken tacos (not you standard taco). All superb prepared in South American style not thank god texmex. And try the roasted corn kernels as a starter, you won't be sorry. Place opened in 2018 and seems to be doing well. Friendly staff, usually table service. They have a huge tv in one half of the restaurant that they should ditch, no one watches but at least there's no sound. Also be aware they don't serve food on Monday (or is it Sunday- check!). Two of us had 3 dishes and a drink each and left full and only £28 poorer, a great deal. Worth the walk from town center or mill road, not too far from train station.
