It's a fantastic coworking space for those that are looking for a spot to do work that is well appointed, welcoming and community-focused. Their leadership sets them apart and rather than focusing on squeezing dollars from their membership - they want to build a helpful, strong and welcoming community for everyone. We have private desks which at the current rate is a steal for anything in Logan or other neighborhoods, but public space abounds for those not looking for a private space. There are conference rooms, phone booths and common areas that are all able to be reserved by their online system. I've been to a number of coworking spaces that are either incredibly pretentious or try so hard to be cool and edgy that they lose their purpose. People can actually get shit done here and meet others that are entrepreneurs who can benefit their company. We've added 3 contractors to our company roster simply by being here and they have added to the quality of work our company provides. If you're looking for a space to call your own, get work done and hang out in a wonderful community - Second Shift is the place for you.

The office space is clean and modern. I use a flex desk which is fine for my needs. The only concern I've ever had is that if you're not here earlier in the morning - and you need a dual-monitor desk - they fill up fast. I've found the people that share the space are very nice. A few tend to get loud on the phone at times, but no worse than if I were to work at a Starbucks. There are private phone areas as well - so most people use those. The staff is very quick to reply and friendly. I deal with Melissa the most and have found her professional and pleasant. The internet has been slow a few times (as stated below), but I think that's more of an issue with the provider versus this location. In any event, when this happens the problem is always addressed quickly. If you need a break from working at home, I'd suggest trying this out. Co-working spaces/office sharing helped me put more structure around my work day. And made me more productive. Can't complain on that.

The first issue being that the entire hallway leading to my room reeked of cigarettes (both days we were there). This is gross and frustrating to encounter in 2026. The second issue being that the pillows in the room were overly squishy and offered no support. I called the guest services number at 2am asking if they had firmer pillows. The woman on the phone said they have foam and feather pillows. I requested two foam pillows be brought to my room. I was pretty surprised when they brought pillows that were as squishy as the feather pillows already in the room. Definitely bring your own pillow if you prefer supportive pillows! When I checked out no one asked me how my stay was or anything along those lines. Disappointed.

Great, right? The photo on the Bonvoy site had a nice view of Wrigley and the view of the room they first gave me... did not. Very misleading so I asked for a better room and got it. I understand that this is 'the game' that you have to play sometimes but was disappointed given that I'm Gold Elite and usually this sort of game isn't played. The view *was* great - nice view of the park - you can even see the ivy, and of course you can see Gallagher Park which is a multi-use space next to Wrigley where player statues are. However, the soundproofing of this hotel is abysmal and they should supply earplugs and eye masks. There's a gap between the blackout curtains and the top of the window so there was a thin but bright light coming through as the sun came up. And then there was the 7am workout class. 7am ON THE DOT I heard crazy loud dance music and sure enough I peeked out and saw a class in the park. Listen, I know it's a city and sounds are going to happen but this was so loud that the hotel could - and should - take steps to mitigate the inconvenience of being awakened by a fitness class at 7am. Otherwise, hotel is fine. You're paying for the location - and you get it. Not for biz travelers. Good for families and folks traveling with pets. Room layout is practical - lots of plugs next to bed and by the desk - with included iron and ironing board, safe, robe, and slippers. No lotion in bathroom but shampoo/conditioner/body wash in shower, and soap by sink. What you'd expect (but the lack of lotion was weird). Breakfast buffet is also fine - $26 for cereal, fruit, pastries, scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc. Nothing extraordinary but the space is gorgeous and also has an outdoor area if you want to look at the park while you eat. Hotel could really shine by adding bedside earplugs and eye masks, making it more explicit upon check-in that you need to request a coffee maker or fridge in your room, and improve the light seepage on those blackout curtains. These all are easy - and thoughtful - fixes.

Free parking is always music to my ears--there's an underground lot with stairs going to the main atrium that has an elevator up to the coworking space. I can imagine how relieving this would be in the midst of snowstorms. Peggy (community manager) greeted me at the front and gave me a brief tour of the space. Nice kitchen space with a Bevi machine (my favorite) and plenty of coffee. First I picked a small table because I was in a 4-hour training and didn't want to disrupt anyone. No electrical outlet nearby. When I came back from an errand, I sat on the couch (outlet here) where the table was too short to be comfortable for my back. It was random that I stayed in Oak Brook because I was in town for an event 20 minutes east. This neighborhood is full of large corporate buildings which felt like a surburban Downtown area. My hotel was less than 10 minutes from Venture X, so I'm grateful this was even an option to get me out of coworking at the hotel or generic coffeeshop!

I left the Venture X Oakbrook office yesterday after a very frustrating experience…read more I work for a non-profit that provides me a desk pass membership for drop-in visits. I typically work from home, but after trying a couple of other drop in locations I found Venture X Oakbrook to be far and away the best option. I've been using it pretty exclusively whenever I'm in the area, and recommending it to my coworkers. The first time I booked the space was December 2022, when I was given a tour of the space and pointed to a series of about 12 desks in an open area to use. Since then, every time I have come I've checked in, gone to the same desk, and had a solid experience. Yesterday I made the mistake of asking the woman at the front desk a question. She dismissed me, telling me she was in a meeting and returning to her computer screen, and when I said I was just looking for information on how to print, she said if I wasn't a member I couldn't print more than a few pages anyway. It wasn't an urgent project, so I gave up and decided I would print somewhere else later. No big deal. A few minutes later, the meeting presumably having ended, this woman tracked me down and greeted me by saying, "You can't be here. These desks are not for you." Completely caught off guard, I explained that not only had a Venture X employee specifically shown me to this spot and directed me to use these desks, but that I have been doing so for a year and a half without any issue. She demanded to know who, and when I said I didn't remember the name but that I thought it was a blonde woman, she told me that was her manager. She went on to tell me that I was wrong anyway, the desks were reserved for other users, and that even though she remembered my face from previous visits and said she believed me, I was limited to using the couch space out front. I would like to point out that the desk I sat down at had a sign on it saying "Available," and that there were zero other people in that work area. I was bothering no one, and costing Venture X nothing. Even if I was incorrect, and the person who showed me to this space gave me the wrong information, there was no reason to be confrontational about it. It felt like I wasn't good enough to use the space, and was both demeaning and infuriating. I have other options, so I just immediately started packing my things and left. I wasn't going to argue with this woman or work unproductively from a couch, as back issues would make that very uncomfortable at best. I asked her to refund the desk pass to my non-profit, since I didn't really use it, and she said okay, but I have no faith that she will follow through on that (and also no way to check, as I am not the account owner). It is extremely regrettable that what had been up till now an outstanding experience with the workspace ended in this way.

I was expecting a mini tour, things to know about the space, a quick list of rules, etc. Instead, I felt like I was bothering her. She didn't move, she just said, "the kitchen is that way" and pointed to her right. I spent the rest of the day slowly walking into hallways and rooms, wondering if I was intruding on a private workspace or if I was entering a phone room. This place is very, very quiet. Even whispering makes you feel awkward. I was with a co-worker and we were whispering quietly to each other after walking in. I was saying hello, the usual greetings. A woman nearby walked over to tell us that we needed to not talk because she was trying to concentrate. I was so irritated that my coworker and I up and left. We worked the rest of the day at a nearby coffee shop that was warm and friendly. I'm not sure if whispering is banned in the main work area but if so, I didn't see any signs and we weren't given rules. I wasn't sure if I should have defended myself or if I was actually in the wrong. Overall cold and frustrating vibe for me. Will stick to coffee shops in the future.
