Stopped in on my vacation in Homer and I was glad I did. They have a great selection of books and they are very welcoming.

I'm not sure what I lived more: the selection of puzzles or the brown paper wrapped books with concise descriptions on the front. The puzzles were eclectic and intriguing with plenty of selection. The brown paper wrapped books was the coolest idea I have ever seen. Can't decide on what book to read, well grab one of these (excellently priced btw)! I have a firm rule of always buying something at a bookstore. Preferably a book. Sometimes I have trouble finding one book that I want. Here, I left with three. The honest reality is they placed their books in a way that encouraged viewing. Within 10 minutes I had found three books that grabbed my attention. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great selection of local and Alaska-centric stuff...and not just tourist fodder either, this place is authentic. Exterior is cute and so is the interior. *Loved* this bookstore. I got two books on baby names / pregnancy / birth for my husband and a feminist book for my daughter for Christmas, and they even gift-wrapped them for free. I thought it had a pretty good selection for a small bookstore. Would definitely come here again. read more

An awesome bookstore! Cute and cozy, their Alaskana section is huge! They have a great selection of books for kids, art supplies and journals, and locally made cards. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. (Nerd alert: I even had a "celebrity siting" the first time I visited - Alaskan writer Tom Kizzia was there chatting with the owners about his next writing project.) read more

Visiting bookstores is one of our favorite vacation hobbies, and the Homer Bookstore was one of the best we've seen! A great selection of picks by local authors, neat recommendations, and a welcoming shop. We left with way more books than we needed and are looking forward to reading all of them. read more

This is a wonderful bookstore that is gorgeous inside with a great selection of books. It's well organized and easy to find what you are looking for. I was impressed with their selection, including foreign language books. Definitely check it out if you're in Homer! read more

The quintessential locally owned bookstore is alive and well in Homer! They have a wonderful selection of books and unique gifts for locals and visitors. My 9 year old daughter loved the kids section and my husband even found some great woodworking books. I love the vibe. You can tell that a lot of love goes into everything from ordering the right books to arranging the shelves and decorating the store inside and out with fun art. Don't miss the moose bike rack to the left of the door ;-) read more
