Absolutely rude "help" tried to tell me I was wrong about the bulb I needed to replace despite showing pictures

Hi Everyone, What do you do when Home Depot in Bluffton, SC shows a quantity of 12 -3 pack toilet flappers in stock, so you order it online, pay for it online, and after you sent your wife to pick them up, and when she gets to the store, she's told they do not have them in stock? We had an outstanding experience and great customer service from Mike DeVito (no, not Danny's brother), who worked out a solution while my wife was standing at the service counter. Mike is a "get 'er done", type of guy, like I was in my business for my customers for over forty years, which I really appreciate. Customer service seems be harder and harder to come by these days but not apparently at Home Depot, as it is alive, and well! We both want to thank you Mike, because you did a great job, and are an outstanding example of why we have purchased almost all our major appliances (in six homes which we have owned), stone birch kitchen cabinets, along with hundreds fastener, screws, etc..., tons of tools, and a riding mower, to name a few, all from Home Depot. I know that a toilet flapper does not seem like an emergency, but when you've downsized from a home with four toilets to a house with two that three people have to use, it becomes extremely important because as you know, when you gotta go, you gotta go. I mean, it's not musical chairs, lol. Again, thanks Mike for doing a wonderful job of customer service and helping us. And thank you Home Depot for being smart enough to hire Mike. We will be back, because Home Depot is the place to get what you need, and get your job done, the first time! read more

We tried to resolve it with the manufacture... to no avail. We were at Home Depot, buying a couple of thousand dollars worth of products for a renovation to our office, when we shared our story with a team member. Love the managers/supervisors at this Home Depot! Whenever I've had appliance manufacturing issues, the managers at this location are always super helpful! Recently, Echo, Department Supervisor, handled an appliance disaster with such dedication and determination. I was very distraught, and she was amazing, handling it all with kindness, patience and professionalism! She reached out to Keenen, to assist with my dilemma, and he was extremely helpful as well! So, went to Home Depot to buy an electric range after shopping online and being told (on the website) that it was in stock and available. This was my first experience with Home Depot Appliances. Got to the store and a very rude sales associate in Appliances made me feel like an idiot. In a not so nice way, he indicated..."you can't go by the website, we don't stock appliances at all. Do you know how big our store would have to be if we stocked appliances??" Following that, he didn't really go out of his way to gain us as a customer. We left. Oh, by the way, we went right over to Lowes and got the same range, in stock and arranged for delivery and installation (no charge) two days later. I am 65 years old, have purchased dozens of appliances in my life, and don't need that aggravation. Lowes was very happy to service our need. read more

Normally, I prefer Lowe's to Home Depot. I think it's because Lowe's tends to cater to the consumer, and based on the items they stock as well as layout of the store, it seems they cater to female shoppers. So, when I do go to Home Depot instead of Lowe's, it's because my hubby seems to prefer HD. Good help from employees is normally hit or miss at Home Depot stores I have been to. However, when we stopped at this HD in Bluffton the other day to find some things needed for our new home, we found almost everything we needed. But, the reason for the 4 star review is because of the helpfulness of a couple of the employees there. First off, when we arrived, we walked past several employees who were too engaged with their conversations with their co-workers to even acknowledge us. But then we passed an older guy dressed in shorts & a tee shirt & tennis shoes (with no badge on) who could see that we were lost. He said, "I work here, what are you looking for?"...and when we told him, he directed us to exactly where we needed to be. I wish we had gotten his name because that was awesome!! Thank you, whoever you were! Then, when we were in that aisle looking for parts to replace a wax seal under a toilet, an older gentleman who also worked there came up to help us. He clearly knew what he was doing regarding plumbing. He gave my hubby some advice and pointed us to where we could find what we were looking for. Again, THANK YOU!! That was awesome!!! While I still feel that Lowe's is better at catering to the average consumer in terms of certain items, this Home Depot has some employees who go above and beyond. Again, I wish I had gotten their names so that I could give them a shout-out, but HD Management, if you are reading this, some of your older employees at the Bluffton/Hilton Head store are AWESOME!! :-) read more

We ordered a new washing machine with new hoses. When the guys brought it in they swapped positions of the washer and dryer. The dryer would not fit properly due to the outlet connection so they shoved it back closing off the air outflow. Not a good thing for safety. Doors no longer opened to allow easy clothes transfer. Called HD for reinstall and they said nothing was done wrong. Either live with it or they would pick the washer up. Easy choice. Had Best Buy bring the same washer and knowledgeable tech finished in 15 minutes including instructions. Poor service trumped by bad attitude read more

Just had the flooring department install another floor and they were amazing. Jose Rosario and his sons Josh and Abios are the installers for the Bluffton Home Depot and they have installed the floors in the last 4 or 5 homes that we flipped and they are awesome. They are very knowledgeable, hard working and their attention to detail is excellent. I highly recommend Home Depot flooring installations because of Home Depot's pricing, the way they stand behind their products, and the fact that Jose and sons are expert installers. read more

I'm new to the Bluffton area and can say this store is different than the Home Depots up north. Different layout, entrance and exit, and not many parking spots. I was able to get everything I came for. The customer service/checkout crew was very nice and accommodating. Prices are reasonable and store is pretty large. read more

First off, let me say that everyone involved in this review were all were genuinely kind people. The 1 star rating is due to lack of communication and follow up, which are listed below. This review is based on a kitchen countertop installation paid for and scheduled through Home Depot. Kitchen design: Overall, the design appointment was underwhelming at best. The opportunity to schedule the appointment took a while due to business demands. We went in and started shopping counter samples in store and online to get the process started. We also came in with rough measurements, as directed by the online guide, along with a list of questions. Again, while the design person was nice, it was clear that we were not being welcomed. I foolishly went into this experience with an open mind and tons of excitement, but met with cold personalities and no interest in my excitement. Based on the in-store design appointment, we decided to set this up ourselves online. We followed the measurement guide, along with picking our materials, and were done in about an hour. We paid in full at this time. Based on the website, we were to have a phone call within 48 hours to schedule our measure. Measurement: As many people may know, Home Depot uses local sub-contractors to execute their projects. These people are not employed by Home Depot but are paid contractors. The subcontractor did call as promised within 48 hours of paying online. This was the only thing that went well from this point. The appointment was set from 12-2 on Feb 18th. I reached out at 1:45pm on this day to the person who called and scheduled the appointment, who was the owner of the contractor company chosen by Home Depot. I also texted this number after not hearing back. An hour or so later, at 2:30 pm, I hear from the office admin, Denise, who explained that the measurer was running late and would be there soon. At 3:30pm I called back asking for an ETA. The measurer showed up after 4:30pm to evaluate the kitchen. This appointment lasted for about an hour when it was determined we would need to demo the countertops for an accurate measurement. We knew this was a possibility and something that was discussed with Jay (the owner and appointment setter) during the initial call. The measurer, Cole, was very kind and sympathetic with us because of the rough condition the kitchen was in from a scam contractor gone rouge. He let us know to demo the countertops, call back, and they would come back out within a day or two to measure. That night we started demo'ing and in fact, it was a lot easier than any of us thought. We actually text Cole and laughed about the turn of events and decided we would call first thing the next morning (Friday, 2/19) to schedule the return visit. I called Friday AM, didn't hear back, followed up with a Friday PM call and nothing on Monday so I call and leave another message. Nothing by Monday afternoon so I call Home Depot locally. No return message. I call Home Depot design services, and spoke to a wonderful gentleman who listened to my concerns and called JO Surfaces immediately with me on the other line. They answered immediately and HD design services switched back to me within minutes and promised a follow up call from them directly. I get a call within seconds of hanging up the phone with with a return appointment the next day 2/23 at 10am, for the measurement. Great. Happy that the sub answered the phone for HD when I had called minutes earlier and met with an answering machine. But okay, great, we are getting things accomplished. Cole was assigned to us and did not show up on time. Something happened, a guy didn't show up, someone had to help someone do something, yadda yadda and a while later he comes to do the measurement. At this point I ask for clear follow up instructions to set the right expectations. They would go over the measurements, send to Home Depot, and HD should call me back by Thursday to confirm and order. Guess what, that didn't happen. Friday I call the store and someone left a message for Betty (?) to call me and confirm. No call from Betty or anyone at Home Depot. So I call my folks back at HD Design services and requested follow up. They transferred me to the store, no luck, soooo we pack up and head to the store. At the store I met the assistant manager and a couple of other managers who were actually really great in helping us out. They figured out where the breakdown happened and we got it ordered. It is not April 15th and we just got the counters installed today. Install set at 10 am, no call/no show in typical fashion. I call and leave a message for Denise who unfortunately had to listen to me vent about the whole process and the issues with follow up and no communication. Our installer showed up at before 1 and started the job. (Very nice, helpful, and did a good job) There was no communication, no follow up, and we should have gone a local route. We have been waiting for windows for over 6 months. Half the order has arrived without screens. Still missing three windows, they tell us each month they have been ordered and then they give us a delivery date and no windows are shipped. They don't answer the phone and when you get through the phone goes dead. Brenda in doors and windows has been promising our order for over 6 months and it is November 2021 and still missing three windows. Of course they blame everything on Covid. This is the most unreliable and disorganized company I have ever been involved with. If and when are windows arrive, I will never touch foot into this Hilton Head Store. Our contractor with SC Enclosures has done little to nothing to help resolve the issue. read more

Never ever order a custom kitchen from this store. Our experience was absolutely horrific and after dropping the ball several times, lack of communication, repeated mistakes, unnecessary delays of 3+ months, and promises of forthcoming compensation for our troubles from the Assistant Store Manager Bill Towler, who was the only helpful person at that store, the offer given was an insult. The matter was then handed to the Store Manager Jaime Tolsa, who refuses to negotiate whatsoever and despite evidence in black and white is choosing to believe his employee Robin Kover who continues to provide inaccurate information in an attempt to cover up all of her mistakes. Even though I strongly believe that every single customer should be treated with the same respect regardless of the amount spent at a store, this was a high ticket purchase and I would have expected a little more from Home Depot. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Home Depot will never get a penny of my money again and I will continue to vocalize to everyone possible the horror we endured in hopes others don't endure the same or similar treatment. Unlike the Hilton Head store, this one in Bluffton is easy to find, and as usual has a great tool section, and in my opinion, a much better quality and selection than Lowe's. The only drawback worth mentioning is that they have an inconsistent supply on small hardware. read more

As a prior Home Depot fan, I visited them to choose bedroom carpeting. I had the measurements, but they sent a man to measure. Prior to his visit I decided to have a second bedroom carpeted. He measure both rooms. Days later an estimate came....it was 11 square yards great the my measurements showed I required. Plus, they showed one figure for both room, and assumed I would choose the same carpet in each. I contacted them to obtain the yardage for each room. The combined total was five square yards less than the collective total they would be charging me. I went to the store, spent spoke with the salesman, showed him my layout and explained the problem. He understood and called their carpet supplier. He explained the situation to them, but they refused to correct their over- charge. Before leaving the store I contacted the store manager. He reviewed the info, apparently agreed with me, and called ;the carpet people (again). they spoke for 1 1/2 hours, but he finally explained he had no control over their refusal to correct the situation. After 2 1/2 hours I cancelled the sale and left the store.. Days later I telephoned who I thought was the higher-ups in Home Depot and explained the situation. They said they would research it and call me back in 24 to 36 hours...they never did. I went to Lowes, reviewed all of the above with them. They understood the problem and guaranteed they would charge only for the measurements I provided (having reviewed my measurements with agreed with what HD's representative had measured). Store is a little tired, but received outstanding service from Scott when he picked up an out of stock item I needed at another HD near his home and then delivered to my gatehouse the next morning! As always, the key differentiator between HD and Lowe's is the professionalism of its people, which as a contractor, I consistently see in the numerous HD locations all along the East Coast I have worked with over the years. read more

Needed to rent a wheelbarrow for hurricane cleanup. They put a hold of 30 minutes on it so I could drive there which was appreciated since they only had one. Rental was easy. Thank goodness for navigation systems because this location is tough to spot without a little help. Rental price was reasonable. read more

This particular store is the epitomy of big-box home improvement dissappintment. Stock is decent but prices on some items are slightly higher than at other stores because of a lack of competition. The service is borderline awful. Most of the departments that usually have dedicated staff (flooring, doors/windows, cabinets, appliances, paint) are unmanned. I have ordered large items like tubs that sat in the store for nearly a week before I got an email telling me the item is ready for pickup. And forget about ever getting anyone to pick up the phone to check on your order...EVER! (Best option is to use the website and go to the store when it says the item has been delivered (not when it is ready for pick-up, just delivered). When they tell you at the store that the item hasn't been processed yet, tell them you will wait or they can cancel the order.) Another, very significant reason I dislike Home Depot in general is because they gouge consumers for basic items sold in the store. For example, if you want a decent 10" tape knife, you will pay 25-50% more for one in the store than you would if you order one from HD on-line and have it delivered to the store. (I have found that they typically sell mild-steel plaster/tile/drywall tools for more than most places sell professional stainless steel tools.) Corner convenience store pricing is not what I expect at a big-box home improvement store. And lastly, HD is systematically replacing name-brand products with house-brand products. That means less selection and lower quality for you, higher profits for them. Home Depot has done a great job oif undercutting local supply stores to drive them out of business and now that they are one of the only providers in town, they really stick it to you. Do yourself, your budget and your community a favor and find a local lumber supply (Grayco in the Beaufort County area, for example) to give your business to. Home Depot has just gotten too greedy for me to shop there. read more

Don't shop here!!! I would give it zero stars if I could. Their refrigerator installers did not correctly install ice maker line. It leaked, costing me over $2000 to resolve. We contracted with Home Depot for a small kitchen remodel of our townhome in mid December. We have dealt with nonstop lack of communication at the store level including: inability to connect with store via phone; phone call hangups; voice messages ignored; calls not returned; miscommunication between store, vendors, contractors, and us; as well as misorders, damages, overcharges, lack of scheduling, and I could go on. The latest delay is when they came yesterday, 4/26, to install the countertops, and the backsplashes were omitted from the order! Now we have to wait a week to ten days for the backsplashes so we can complete the countertop install. (We have no issues with the contractors Home Depot uses.) We have complained to local store management almost every step of the way and all we get from them is "sorry" instead of correcting the issues so other customers do not have the same problems. We also complained at the district and regional level. Someone above store management that actually cares about customer service needs to contact us. read more

It truly is a sad day when you don't even read a store because your customer service is that bad. I purchased a refrigerator from Home Depot today when I got home to enter online the chance to win I realize they over charged me $61. I then returned to the Home Depot and show them their air and had to get the sicker to prove it then upon the customer service desk they turn the $61 overcharge into a $26 return to me so I lose $40 because I failed to catch the mistake while I was in the store when I ask the customer service department about it they said that's the way it's done that is why I will no longer support a Home Depot anywhere. I strongly encourage other shoppers to do the same because no matter what you call it mislabeling fraud bait and switch all businesses have different relations for this name I did try to contact the actual Home Depot main offices to resolve the situation however they also feel that customer service is not a very big of importance to them so they have failed to even reach out to me it's with this and several other blast that I will be giving out over the next few days months and even years for the rest of my life I will get a response from them somebody will actually look over and say hey maybe we should work on our customer service now maybe not maybe it'll just go away we won't have to worry about it maybe people don't care how they're treated maybe they don't care if we steal money from occasionally and then one more caught at it we won't even refund the money we only refund parts of money. If having money taken from you at a store that you do business with is something that you would enjoy and please by all means continue shopping at Home Depot if you want to stand up to the extra profit that they are trying to get by with then stand against them and shop somewhere else they will go away read more

The wrong doors were ordered more than one time and now I am trying to complete the job with excuses from the store as to why the last step can't be completed!
