Had a lot of challenges when I was younger, and could never really figure out why I was not…read moreresponding super duper well to some medication and why sometimes therapy made me feel like I wasn't addressing all of my issues (it did help and I still recommend CBT to everyone). However one key always just felt a little off; I was diagnosed with ADHD but it wasn't what most doctors wanted to focus on. Then just after being in a weird limbo for many years, I did some reading online and thought "wow that really describes my experience to a tee" so I did more research and Dr. Sosin's practice came up on forums. He took my claims seriously, and also made me feel like my traits that normally made me "disruptive/annoying" was actually normal because it is a part of how my brain processes things, but also how it could be channeled for good, with some minor medication tweaks. So 5 months later, I actually landed my dream job (measurement wise, I do 50%-300% more than expected, and it's easier to manage), been able to keep a somewhat consistent schedule, organize my life a little better, and it's been a lot easier. Also, I've been able to kick my soda/coffee addiction (because this is sometimes a symptom/form of coping of unmedicated ADHD/ADD!) =) Dr. Sosin doesn't just release you into the wild; he gives you clear instructions on what he thinks will help during the titration process, but he also asks that you carefully record what you do and report your reactions to medication as well. This is YOUR treatment too, so you have to be an active and diligent participant in your treatment by both staying consistent, or recording what does and doesn't help you. He's careful to check up on you, and he always treats you like a whole person, and tries to help you find the resources you need as well. My prior physician changed medications and dosages multiple times, but none of these changes had a significant effect. I was still having difficulty concentrating because I became easily distracted and couldn't focus for more than a few minutes at a time.   After I began being treated by Dr. Sosin in October of 2014, I was finally able to concentrate for extended periods of time and not become distracted easily. Dr. Sosin listened carefully to my experiences and responses to prior treatments prescribed by my former physician. He tailored the treatment for me and carefully adjusted dosage and medication to find what worked best to keep my symptoms under control. My last doctor was impossible to get ahold of if i had any issues outside of an appointment. Which tends to happen when you are new and trying new medications. The office doesn't answer the phone. They only talk over text. Over the past year I have been very consistent with rebooking my appointments at the end of my appointments to avoid the front office. I must have forgotten to rebook an appointment because I was nearing the end of my bottle of anti-depressants and noticed that I didn't have an appointment on the books. I tried contacting the front office and I asked them if i could get a short order to hold me over and they refused and told me that the only opening would be after my prescription ran out. They offered no solution to my issue. They ended up squeezing me in but not until a lot of back and forth. Last week they send me this text: hello Stephanie, your insurance is currently returning as inactive! I just got married and ended up having to change insurance. When i told them it was Tricare and asked if they took it they replied, "We do not accept Tricare!" I am fine with finding another doctor because I cannot stand the incompetency of the front desk. Why are you texting me? Why is there an explanation point at the end? Why do you have absolutely no customer service etiquette at all! You are dealing with people with anxiety issues. 3 years ago, when i first came here these interactions would rile me up into tears. Thankfully I've grown but after telling them I'll have to find another doctor the response was, "I'll cancel the appointment!" My last appointment was pretty serious. Does Dr. Niko even know that I am no longer a patient due to insurance issues? Isn't there a process one needs to go through to leave a doctor's care as I find a replacement? I'm pretty upset I'm not even getting a last check in to make sure that I am okay due to the nature of our last appointment.
