Restore not only carries food but also vitamins, supplements, and personal care items. Sweet! There is an obvious focus on natural and/or organic products and while these can sometime cost a pretty penny, Restore has a lot of options to pick and choose from. Their selection of healthy food items rivals the best. If you ever wondered where people by hemp oil and wheat grass, this is the place. When I went in the woman working was a little in my face - meaning she asked several times if I needed help or if I was looking for anything in particular even though I said I was just looking around. I know she was just doing her job but come on. I bought a load of stuff anyway, and managed to do it all by myself!

In i go and stock up on all manor of nuts and seeds and sesame sticks and the old favourites sesame snaps! and then they have all those dried beans and cereals and organic chocolate (its in a healthfood shop therefore its healthy, so what if its chocolate!). then i drag it all back home and nibble on a couple of my purchases, devour all the organic chocolate and then i give up until the next health frenzy! the only thing that does survive from my regime bought in natures way are the wealth of vitamins and things that you can get in here, you can find lots of different things that you are probably lacking in in your diet and this place provides you with an easy way of including it!

Anyway as it's a time of stress for me I toddled in here feeling very virtuous. As you'd expect they have a range of supplements for different things as well as lots of health foods and snacks. The supplements are sort of divided into purpose which helps you to find what you want if you're the kind of person that gets addled by little jars of strangely named things. I seemed to decide that I had almost all of the problems mentioned in each division so I did have to resist the urge to buy everything. Some things are mightily expensive. What's useful here is that while there are some quite expensive products there's generally a smaller, cheaper own brand that means you don't have to commit too much money to your latest supplement fad - is that just me? - I've got tonnes of half empty jars of supplements round the house - they generally go out of date before I swing round to my next supplement phase.

However, the hop sack,which has been on the go for years is still one of its best and busiest shops. Back in the 80's. When it was nay impossible to get soy milk anywhere in Dublin the HS was there. So great for those of us with milk allergies. Despite being a modest sized shop the Hop Sack has all you health food needs, from gluten free foods to essential oils. Staff are attentive, helpful and highly knowledgeable. They ordered in stuff for me when I asked. Also check it out around easter, as they assued me they were one of the cheapest places to get Green & Blacks easter eggs this year.

I like to keep it healthy which means I can spend up to a tenner on a nice salad-y lunch and again the same, or more, for dinner, if I'm not able to cook at home. If I cook from home, I buy fresh ingredients and it takes me ages, so it's always one extreme or the other. Enter Paleo Ireland. I must say I've been really surprised by just How. Good. This. Food. Is. Really. I've always been Junior Sceptic about these types of delivery services. I don't want to be eating food that isn't fresh that doesn't have a high vegetable count. And I don't want to be eating stuff with preservatives and additions. And above all I don't want to be spending loads for the privilege. These guys deliver to your doorstep for 60 euro all in, including delivery. Five lunches and five dinners. All paleo, all nutritionally balanced, all really filling. For a fiver a meal, delivered, it's unusually good value. For the weeks you're running around with not two seconds to yourself, it's just a live saver. I'd definitely recommend to anyone.

On a hunt for L-Glucosamine (or something like it) I dropped in here on a weekday morning looking for a small bottle of the stuff. Puzzling over the shelves for a minute, I asked a saleswoman for help... and have regretted it ever since. Brusque and condescending, she rolled out a long list of why my choice was wrong, asking me sharply what *was* I thinking and clearly whoever suggested it to me was uneducated in supplements (I wasn't winning any points, either). I was shocked to be spoken to this way in a shop, and numbly accepted whatever bottle of stuff she gave me instead (it's been put in the hall closet should I ever need... what IS that stuff, anyway?). €12 lighter and feeling quite harangued I walked out of the shop, vowing never to return. Worked out well so far.
