Our tour guide Rose was great. Very informative and skeptical. Not to say she wasn't a believer in paranormal stuff! We had so much fun walking through SF Chinatown learning about the area's colorful history. The Haunt (and Rose!) were one of the highlights of my first trip to SF. The tour goes through historic and safe areas with only a couple steep hills to walk up. It coincided with Chinatown's night market so we got to get a glimpse of the lion and dragon dances through the streets, live music and djs. This is suitable for children since the tour didn't give any gruesome details and was more informative than scary (just what I wanted!). If you are interested in history and a bit of ghost hunting in SF I would definitely recommend! Rose also has activities and restaurant recommendations if you ask!

A friend always wanted to do a SF Chinatown Ghost Tour and why not play tourist for an evening. The Haunt Ghost Tour was not like what you see on the Discovery or Travel Channels (love those paranormal shows!) where you're walking in the darkness under the City, being locked up in an asylum or penitentiary and screaming every time you hear a noise. This tour was a short 2 miles (and 2 hours) and more about the history and dark past of SF Chinatown. Our storyteller for the evening was Rose, a 2nd generation ghost hunter. Enthusiastically knowledgable, friendly, and engaging which made for an interesting and enjoyable tour. Each person was given an EMF meter for ghost hunting and explained what it means when it beeps red! Activity was detected at the historic Hotaling Building built by Anson Parsons Hotaling for his whiskey business in 1866. Miraculously, it survived the 1906 earthquake and known to produce positive EMF readings... though can't be confirmed if it's the owner himself. Plan accordingly as no bathrooms available unless you hit up a restaurant or bar. Be courteous and buy something! Plenty of street parking (California Street) and best to park where the tour ends which is near California/Grant Ave. End Note: TBH, I was a little worried not of the dead but more of the "living" and crime that's been quite prevalent. The area is almost a ghost town (pun intended) but fortunately, our group was about 25 (mostly tourists) and felt "safe" with plenty of people in the area...and yes, some odd people walking around too. Tour will be over around 10pm.

Wow what a great experience! I've always wanted to go ghost hunting so I was super excited to do this because I am really into history too. I learned so much about SF and all the crazy things that happened. So many great stories! Our tour guide Emma was fantastic. She had such a great energy about her and she's very knowledgeable. Suuuuper funny by the way. Highly recommend her!

Ramen is the perfect dinner after the tour.

Bday fun for the wifey was the plan and this tour was not bland! Emma the tour guide was so good and told us about graves made of wood. Totally worth you time and that is the end of this rhyme! I would totally go again even though we did not see any ghosts.

I surprised my husband on his birthday with this tour as he wanted to do it for a long time. Booking online was easy and we met at the foot of Transamerica pyramid building. The group was very punctual so we left on time. It was a 1.5 hours walking tour and our host Aliya was very enthusiastic throughout the tour. We did a mix of SF history, haunted stories and also trued to communicate with the spirits using some tools. Overall it was a good tour as a fun activity for adults but I just didn't find it spooky enough!

Very good tour with a great tour guide (Jamie). Was pleasantly surprised by the info and the use of facts vs pushing supernatural material.

This is one of few SF walking-tour companies that still offers tours after sunset (the Haunted SF tour). Currently they have five tours: (1) The Free SF Tour: Intro to SF, local tips, history and friends (2) Food Crawl! Chinatown + North Beach (3) Haunted SF: Ghosts, Murder and Mystery (4) Haight-Ashbury: The Free Love Movement (5) Radical SF: The Castro + The Mission Our group did the 75-minute Haunted SF Ghost Tour at 8:30 PM. Tickets must be purchased on the website ahead of time and each ticket is $18 (not including tax). We met our tour guide Mary at the heart statue in Union Square (near the intersection of Post and Powell). Our guide Mary Vice, who also happened to be a drag performer, was a FABULOUS and COMPELLING storyteller! Our group ventured through the Tenderloin (e.g. John's Grill - one of the oldest restaurants in SF) and various hotels (e.g. The Westin St. Francis, Hilton, etc.). Every time we stopped at a particular spot, our guide always had chilling stories about murders, haunted rooms, serial killers, etc. Absolutely amazing walking tour! I highly recommend the Haunted SF tour because it is such an unique tour and it also gives you an opportunity to walk off the night's meal!

Sebastian was Gone With The Wind Fabulous with his cape. He was such a wonderful guide. Thanks for the tour!

Just a little background - we live about 30 miles outside of the City and venture there often. I am an Amazing Race and scavenger hunt junkie; my fiance, not so much, but he likes to humor me. We both had SO MUCH FUN doing this quest!! We were not at all trying to get the fastest time or the highest score. We were just trying to learn about and explore new parts of the city, and that was definitely accomplished! There were a couple of times that people were looking at us like we were crazy because we were finding letters on the ground, pointing and counting up toward the sky, etc., but it made it just that much more fun! We stopped for a drink at one of the quiz locations, took lots of photos, and had an absolute blast. My fiance got to do a super tourist-y thing in the city that he's never done before (I don't want to give away anything ;)) and he loved it. After having so much fun on this one, I did another Urban Adventure Quest in Las Vegas with a friend a few months ago. That one was just as much fun! Anytime I'm visiting a new city I plan to look to see if there's a Quest there. It's a great way to explore & learn about a new place, and you get some good exercise in too! I think it's really fun for locals too because you just might learn or see something you never knew about before. The website will tell you the approximate distance you will walk (assuming you don't get lost - we were totally fine since we used Google Maps) for each Quest. Just make sure you have comfy shoes, water, sunscreen, and a fully charged smartphone and you'll be good-to-go! They put out promo codes fairly often too, so keep an eye out. You can purchase a Quest anytime and redeem it at your leisure.

It is all done on your phone...think "AMAZING RACE" where you have to solve clues/puzzles to move on. You end up seeing things that you may not have ever known about. We only paused the game once to take a snack break so it took about 2 hours not counting the break. Got to spend a lot of time outside and also got some amazing pictures along the way. Perfect for families and adults. I cannot wait to try another one in many of the cities that are available. You just purchase on your phone and start it when you get to the 1st challenge location.

It was a really interesting blend of true crime, history and some seriously scary ghost stories. In other words perfect entertainment for the night. The tour stopped in a historical bar midway through the tour for a quick cocktail and then ended at the oldest pub in the city. Our guide, John, was extremely hard to hear (he kept moving around so if you thought you found a good spot, you'd quickly realize you did not), did not really seem to have a knack for storytelling (I was really invested in this and still had a hard time paying attention to him), and after telling him we needed to find a spot for a bathroom, he walked us several blocks to a cash only cafe that had the most claustrophobic, humid bathroom we could've found. It seems that we skipped the cocktail bar stops (or maybe they occurred once we left, which was approximately at 7:30). While six in the group stuck it out, that was the tipping point for two of us and we left the tour early. According to what was listed on the website, we were expecting something engaging, fun, and spooky: This was NOT as advertised.

Our docent customized the tour to what each person of the group wanted to hear/learn more about which I thought was very cool. Our tour was also accompanied by print outs of articles and photographs which were helpful aids. Though they say to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the tour to check in, on Saturdays, when the tour begins at 10am, it is not quite as necessary to arrive earlier. The Chinese Culture Center is not open until 10am and the docents don't arrive until 10am either. We parked at Portsmouth ($4/hour) since we wanted to arrive earlier to check-in, but we actually had enough time to park at the (farther) garage that the Chinese Culture Center validates.

We had a great time and we recommend taking the 2 hour Chinatown Walking Tour through the Chinese Culture Center!!

She checked in with the group often to ensure we could hear and understand her and provided clear directions to the next stop on the tour. The tour was really interesting and a pretty flat 2-mile walk, given the slope of some of the hills in SF. There were noteable stops along the way like the SF's first saloon and "the living room" of Chinatown. These tours are pay-what-you-want at the end. We didn't have cash and the website said they'd accept card; we ended up paying Vicky via PayPal.

Tidbits, such as the existence of a watering hole in the 19th century called the Fierce Grizzly (so named because it had a grizzly chained next to the door) and how today's Chinatown architecture came about after the 1906 earthquake, made our walk memorable and our time with Britt go by fast.
