I didn't partake in the record that day, but other locals were excited about it. Every restaurant has sweet tea on the menu, and we also the "Sweet Tea Half Marathon" here each year. I loved taking a photo with the giant sweet tea when I run or walk by, and of course, checking in on Yelp. It's been almost ten years since the record was broken, and while this still stands, I do wish the town would do more with it- or even try to break their own record. If you're here in town visiting, you must get a photo with it. It's right by the free downtown parking garage so super easy and accessible.

Beautiful shopping district. Even though we arrived too late and some stores were closed but we got the high vibes here. Very live and vivid place to do your shopping full of cool restaurants.

Personally, I love looking around at the historic buildings, cool alleyways, great parks and cathedrals. I wouldn't recommend parking around, it's a walking area. Lots of stores, from chains (there's also a Target here), to cute bookstores, boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, designer stores, local fare! It never gets boring, very popular in the weekend evenings, the street gets crowded with locals shopping and tourists. Lots of ice-cream places, bars, restaurants, wine bars, cafe-s! Never boring and charming! You can spend here as much or little as you'd like. French Quarter area is always picturesque!

Watch out for private driveways, stay on the public right of way. Definitely the coolest part is as you make your way to East Bay, the width of the alley shrinks to about 5 feet wide! An alley tour is a nice thing to do for guests who are very mobile.

The memorial includes a bas relief of the mayor and a plaque listing his achievements. It reads, in part, "Mayor Berlin G. Myers. A Lifetime of Service. To Church, to Country and to Community." Don't get me wrong, the homes are beautiful and the history behind them are rich, but it is definitely overhyped. I was also surprised how different it looked in person compared to photos online; I don't know if its the photoshop making the houses look so vibrant and colorful, but the real thing seemed a bit more dull. If you're already in the area, you should definitely see it for yourself, cause you've got nothing to lose. But don't go out of your way to come here, or you may be slightly disappointed like I was.
